Local hospitals are experiencing disruptions due to a strike by resident doctors, leading to increased waiting times reported at Scarborough Hospital, the nearest Accident & Emergency facility for Bridlington.

The strike, which commenced at 7am on 25 July and will continue until 7am on 30 July, follows an break-down in pay negotiations between the British Medical Association and the government.

Around 50,000 doctors across England have taken part in the strike, which is set to last for five days.

Despite the ongoing industrial action, the public is encouraged to seek NHS services as needed. GP surgeries will remain operational, and urgent care and A&E services will still be accessible, alongside the 111 helpline, according to NHS England.
