Submissions for the 'We Remember' segment of the Candlelit Vigil are now open. ❤️🕯

Delivered in partnership with George House Trust, the Candlelit Vigil marks the culmination of Manchester Pride.

During the Candlelit Vigil, participants come together to honour those who are suffering, persecuted, and have lost their lives due to HIV. It serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ communities, both in the UK and around the world.

The 'We Remember' segment of the vigil allows you to commemorate a loved one and include them in this moment that brings together our community in building a more inclusive and accepting society.

As some people have been asking us if The Sussex Beacon is still open, we would like to confirm that this is very much the case, with our Community Services Team busier than ever across Sussex. Their services include detailed casework, Day Service twice a week, Women & Families Group (including our Formula Milk Programme), Ageing & Frailty Casework, Peer Mentoring, Positive Living Programme and Mindfulness.

Of course we also have our popular Brighton retail shops, in St James's Street and London Road, which are open 7 days a week. Please keep an eye out for some wonderful photos that we will share towards the end of the week, taken at the St James's Street shop on Pride Saturday.

As you may have seen, we are excited and very much looking forward to opening the UK's first dedicated LGBT+ hospice, with an HIV specialism. This means, in addition to continuing to provide care and support for people living with HIV, for which the Beacon was founded, our clinical service offering will be expanding to include the provision of palliative and end-of-life care to members of the LGBT+ community.

When we were advised that the Legends Brighton non-stop cabaret Pride fundraiser would be in aid of The Sussex Beacon, we were delighted and humbled.

With two dozen amazing performers, more than eight hours of non-stop quality entertainment and hundreds of loyal customers and fans passing through the doors, we knew this would be a massive event at one of the busiest times of year. Sure enough, it was. An incredible day, full of love and kindness.

Our most heartfelt thanks first and foremost to Erica Hann, Director of this remarkable venue, for her really wonderful support. Likewise, many thanks indeed to Bradley and the fantastic Legends team, to all of the absolutely fabulous (we had to say it) performers, to Substance Hastings for donating the spectacular hamper to be auctioned, to the new owner of the hamper and to each and every one of you who donated to the Beacon then and since the main event.

As a result of everyone's kindness and massive generosity, from time given, to donations and door sales (also amazingly donated by Legends), the Legends non-stop Pride cabaret has raised the phenomenal amount of nearly £4,400 for The Sussex Beacon!!!!!!!!!

This money will be used to help us open the UK's first dedicated LGBTQ+ hospice, which will uniquely combine inclusive care with expertise in specialist HIV care. It's a particularly exciting time for the Beacon and the money raised will make a huge difference.
