Happy Pride! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 We recently went to , what we found was a relaxed, joyous event full of Q***r joy, art and love. We especially loved that it is an intersectional, grassroots, anticapitalist celebration prioritising community, liberation and protest. It reminds us that Pride is not only a celebration but a protest, and a fight for LGBTQI+ rights, against discrimination and systematic oppression, especially in today’s political climate when these rights are being eroded. When we look at what Pride events have become - commercialised, expensive and just an excuse for a party, we especially love these smaller community-led spaces.

“The People's Proud Picnic Of Worthing is free yearly event in Worthing for all of the LGBTQIA+ community and our supportive friends and family. It is free so that no one is excluded due to their income. It is anticapitalist and unsponsored so that it is not beholden to companies interests and influence.

We gather in a park and enjoy an open mic for anyone under the rainbow to share their voice via poetry, song, story, speech or any other kind of performance that feels right to them, with the goal of bringing together community, learning from one another and sharing our q***r joy and revolutionary spirit ❤️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈”

✨Issue 01 “Celebrating Body Hair” Submission spotlight: Fern Cooke

✂️Fern is a mixed-media artist who loves getting a message across. “I’m always looking for different ways to communicate visually and I think I’ve achieved that most successfully with my body photography series.

Something that started as a lockdown self love project has grown so much and I’m proud to have been featured in the first issue of Aghh! alongside so many talented creators.”

💌Take this stunning image as a reminder that your body is beautiful as it is.

🔗You can get the first issue of Aghh! Zine online via Etsy or Singular papers, or check our last post for UK stockists!

We’ve been reaching out to bookshops in the UK to stock us. We have sent out emails to approx 22 bookshops and we are happy to tell you that we are now stocked at the following bookshops 🥳

Please follow and support them, without these independent bookshops, small presses & zines like us would not have a space to exist on the high street. We love every single one of them and are so happy to be part of their bookshop! ❤️

📚“The Common Press is London's q***r intersectional bookshop café & events space. They are a radical and independent space that champions books by authors from a wide range of marginalised backgrounds. They provide a sanctuary for LGBTQIA+ community to exist both during the day and at night in social settings.” The Common Press (Don’t forget to support their crowdfunder - link in their bio.)

📚BOOKS Peckham is a radical, small independent bookshop, that is a community hub for lovers of cheap secondhand books, zines and DIY culture. Find it at 20 Maxted Road, Peckham (entrance on Oglander road next to Quickprint).

📚“Housmans Bookshop are the longest continuous-running radical bookshop in Britain. They specialise in books, magazines, and periodicals of radical interest and progressive politics, such as feminism, pacifism, Black politics, LGBTQIA+ politics, environmental justice and anarchism + fiction, poetry, children’s books ++ host events and book groups.” Housmans Radical Booksellers

📚“Zine Freak is a UK comic shop specialising in indie/small press comix & zines, at Lancaster’s Assembly Rooms Emporium.” Zine Freak

😍We also wanted to shout out The Q***ry Brighton and The Kemptown Bookshop for being the first places to stock us when we first printed 3 years ago 📚

🤗What bookshops should our zines be - in the UK and beyond? Let us know in the comments

💕We had the loveliest afternoon picnic yesterday with some of the contributors & friends of all Aghh! Zine Issues at Brighton Pavilion Gardens. We haven’t have a picnic since the year we published Issue 01 back in 2022 and it was long due!

🫂We love any opportunity to get to know our contributors in person, connect them with each other and meet new people.

🤗Yesterday we had long chats, talked about prompts for the next issue, danced salsa, did some drawing and had soo much food!

🤩It’s a hairy bloody pleasure to be part of this community and to build something so special with incredible talented and lovely people.

Thank you so much to everyone who drop by and for those who couldn’t make it but were with us in spirit 😍We are so happy and proud of all of you 😍

Hello Aghh! Zine family! We hope this new year is going well despite all the sh*t that is happening politically in the world 🫂

We wanted to update everyone on our open call for the next issue of Aghh! Zine. This year will be a little different as we have decided to delay it.

❓Open call 2025:
Issue 04 submission window: 1 November 2025 - mid January 2026
Theme reveal: 1 November 2025. **Sign up to our newsletter to receive early access from February here http://eepurl.com/igbKyL
Print date: Summer 2026.

❓Why have we made the decision to delay our open call?
We know so many of you will be disappointed that we are delaying our next open call, however, we feel that this is the right decision for us. We need to delay issue 04 so that we can rest, strategise and get a few things in place to strengthen Aghh! Zine.

🥰 We are excited to share all our plans for the coming year. Keep an eye out.
