In August we went to Q***r Bloombusy with Brighton Q***r Photographers Collective 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

It was our first time going, and we found q***r joy in the midsummer Sussex countryside. For us, the event was a reminder of the q***r history of the Bloomsbury Group, who came together to create an alternative living community at Charleston.

We loved the talk with Travis Alabanza, Shon Faye, Jodie Mitchell and Neil Bartlett, who shared their reflections on q***r life. Afterwards, we ventured into the house and gardens for discovery, art and wonder and enjoyed performances by: Symoné, Brian Lobel, Emma Frankland, Subira, , .chamarette, CAIRO NEVITT & Robin Whitmore

We also enjoyed getting a sign painted, life drawing, badge making, visiting the exhibitions, including one by Guerrilla Girls and the sunset ceremony with lavender from the gardens, specially gifted to us all🪻🪻

We also took a moment to take photos surrounded by flowers and nature. We danced the night away to tunes by DJ Michelle Manetti & host Billie Gold!

Thank you Q***r in Brighton / Q***r Heritage South Marlborough Productions and Charleston for the joyous and magical evening 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

A few weeks ago! Thank you for having us Mind, Body and Earth and Lighthouse! We loved creating and facilitating this beautiful workshop! 🥰

we had to share this beautiful reel created by Meg who is Mind, Body and Earth of our recent mapping our senses workshop

thank you so much to Mind, Body and Earth for inviting us to create and facilitate this most gorgeous workshop where we connected with our senses, the green space around us, the non-human beings & each other 🫂

we created some hand-sewn notebooks which attendees used in the workshop ( and got to take home). and we shared knowledge of the printing process and history of space which made us connect even deeper!

😮 Can’t believe this Saturday we will be hosting the last workshop of our funded free creative workshop series!

😍We will be finishing with the popular technique and our latest obsession: texture printing! (It’s definitely been a textured summer)

🎨We will get our fingers inky again, this time to map the centre of Brighton. We will start at Community Base for a demonstration, then head out to collect textures around the neighbourhood.

😊Tickets are now sold out, but you can join the waitlist in case someone drops out.

✒️No previous experience required
🎨All Materials will be provided.
♿️The route is hilly, especially to get to the areas where we will be texture printing and back into Scrap Space. The venue is fully accessible and trans-inclusive.

Texture Printing Workshop with Aghh! Zine

Come with us as we tour The Scrap Space in Brighton, located inside Community Base. Here you can find low-cost reclaimed materials for play, art, craft, theatre and DIY.

😍It's a beautiful treasure trove, and we love to just drop by and see what’s there and chat to the lovely staff!

🪡They have a textile room / haberdashery + a Cosy Craft Room that can be hired for a VERY affordable price.

Annual, day and one-off event memberships are available. A day membership starts at £6!

We have a yearly membership, so we can go to either their Brighton or Shoreham spaces and get materials for our workshops and art practice throughout the year.

It’s volunteer-run, and they are always looking for more volunteers, so get in touch with them if you have the capacity.

You can also donate your clean, non-hazardous scrap that can be reused for art, craft, play, theatre and DIY.

⏱️Make sure to check their opening hours, especially during the UK school holidays.

♻️We love this place because we are passionate about recycling, reducing waste in our landfills and minimising harm to our planet and our local ecologies.
