Eight teenagers from Seaford Baptist Church recently travelled to Loitokitok, Kenya, where they spent their time helping at a local children's home.

Their work included:

🌱 Planting crops to support a sustainable food supply
🎨 Decorating the boys' dormitory
🛠️ Installing an elephant-proof fence to help protect the community
🤝 Building lasting friendships with local children

The trip also gave the group the opportunity to experience life in rural Kenya; walking children to school through the Maasai Mara and ending their visit with a memorable safari in Amboseli National Park.

The mission was made possible thanks to months of fundraising and the generosity of the local community, including support from Seaford Rotary, MCL Transport, Tesco Eastbourne and Intersport Seaford.

Read their inspiring story on page 91 of this month's Seaford Scene and see how Seaford's young people are making a difference far beyond our town.

Local clubs are welcoming new members, celebrating success and supporting the next generation of Seaford athletes.

👏 Congratulations to everyone who completed Seaford Striders' latest Couch to 5K programme. Despite everything from heavy rain to a heatwave, this year's runners crossed the finish line after nine weeks of determination. It's an especially special milestone as the club celebrates its 40th anniversary and 10 years of Couch to 5K.

🏆 Meanwhile, Seaford Bowling Club is celebrating another successful season, with rising star Davina Forward earning selection for the Sussex Under-25 team and both the men's and ladies' teams enjoying strong performances in county competitions.

💰 If you'd like to support young people in sport, Cradle Hill School is appealing for help to restore its all-weather astro pitch. The facility is used by hundreds of pupils as well as local sports clubs and community groups, helping people of all ages stay active throughout the year.

See page 6 for details of how to add your support, and pages 58 and 84 for full articles about the Seaford Striders and the Bowling Club:
