🎤 Liran Notik visited D**e Mart — a community-powered market at Daltons reclaiming space, language, and joy.
At the centre of D**e Mart is Edie, founder and co-organiser, whose vision shaped the event from the ground up. D**e Mart began as a response to a gap — a need for a space that centred d**e identity without dilution or apology. Through persistence, collaboration and community trust, that idea became a packed room filled with independent traders, artists and makers. The result was a space where creativity could thrive freely and identity never had to be explained.
Robynne spoke passionately about the importance of showcasing work that sits outside mainstream fashion, while Jen added another layer, talking about the importance of reclaiming the word “d**e” itself.

Tonight, the BBC will broadcast 'Shock Treatment', a documentary uncovering the use of electric shock aversion therapy to try to change the sexuality or gender identity of gay and trans people.

GScene Magazine is the magazine for the LGBT+ communities in Brighton & Hove. The monthly publication is distributed to readers from Brighton to Eastbourne, London, Portsmouth and Southampton. We are also online at www.gscene.com.
GScene covers LGBT+ news and it's the most comprehensive guide for bars and events in East Sussex.
Gscene Magazine started life in 1993 as a four-page insert stapled into the centre of Impact Magazine, a generic listings magazine for Brighton and Hove. Originally called 'The Q***r Guide', Brighton was not quite ready for the 'Q' word in 1993 and the name of the magazine was changed to Gscene in 1995. During the past 25 years, Gscene has played a vital role in improving services, creating opportunities and informing the LGBT+ communities in East Sussex.
More than a magazine, we strongly believe in a better future and support the LGBT+ communities in every way we can.
James Ledward, who wrote the words above, died in October 2019, and was keen that the magazine that he created and nurtured for over 25 years should become a community resource and asset. To that end we have now been registered as a Not for Profit Social Enterprise, in the form of a Community Interest Company.
