In late 2024, singer-songwriter & old friend came over to Brighton from Buenos Aires and we recorded this beauty of an indie-folk ballad - Take a Minute. Fun fact: I mocked up a choir using LABS software & Tom really liked it so upgraded my fake choir to a real one - recorded back home in Argentina by members of his awesome choir. What a buzz hearing my arrangement sung by such brilliant voices. Very proud of this one and more people should hear it IMO!

I became a little bit less basic when I learned voice led chord inversions. Really I figured this out for guitar years ago and I’m a long way from fluent but it’s a simple enough technique to learn and really help with arranging synth and keys parts in track so they overlap less and leave space for melodic elements above and bass elements below. Do you use this technique in your tracks?

Empty Again by was a lovely track to mix. A blend of vintage jazz-blues instrumentation and subtle, naturalistic Amy inspired production frames a reflective song about the female biological clock. A subject (& perspective) that the jazz of the 30s & 40s likely never touched.
