The University Of Sussex's Student Radio Station - URF URF stands for University Radio Falmer and is the student radio station at the University of Sussex.

It's one of the oldest student radio stations in the country and is also one of the only stations that doesn’t playlist it's shows. Based on the top floor of Falmer House at the University of Sussex, URF broadcasts across campus, Brighton and the world via www.urfonline.com and on DAB (Digital

Radio). Student DJs determine the music policy, as URF is run entirely by student volunteers. So whether you're a big reggae fan or prefer a bit of R&B they'll probably be a show for you on URF. Getting involved in student radio is not only fun, but can be incredibly rewarding, looks great on your CV and past members have gone on to work for Juice 107.2FM and the BBC. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in the station - from hosting your own radio show to joining one of our teams (Music, News, PR and Events, Tech, Production).

Spring Broadcasting Applications are Open! 🌻

Hey Show Hosts!

We've opened broadcasting applications for the Spring Semester, and you can apply for a show starting right now! Please note we allocate shows on a first come first serve basis, so get your applications in ASAP to secure the timeslot you're hoping for.

Returning shows WILL have to reapply for their shows as we wipe the schedule clean every semester. We'll find time in the new year to contact all applicants regarding timeslots and training sessions! (if needed)

Hi Everyone! As we move closer towards winter and christmas break we thought it'd be the perfect time to host not one, but two socials. Coming up first we have an Off The Record making session. Off The Record was something we used to do in the past and looking to bring it back! Its a very simple yet creative and expressive way to show off your show on the schedule in a physical way that'll stay as part of URF history for years to come! This session will be next Wednesday from the URF Studio itself and we'll have a dedicated post early next week with more info!.

Finally we have a karaoke Sunday social with Falmer Bar, come along with friends and sing your hearts out to whatever song tickles your fancy! There'll even be free drinks for the first few singers (provided by Falmer Bar) so make sure you're there in time for that.

Hi everyone! As summer is over and it’s coming up to Halloween, we’re going to be hosting a special spooky social very soon! 💜🧙🏻

Starting at Falmer Bar at 8:30pm, we will then head to Casablancas Club at 10pm!

We want to see you all dressed as your show - it can be as literal or as far fetched as you want!
For those of you who don’t have a show but still want to join in, come dressed in your spookiest attire! We’ll be keeping an eye out for the best costume ;)

Hello everyone! Welcome to the 2025/2026 academic year, and welcome to URF! ❤️ 🎵

After our training session on Thursday October 9th, we're going to head down to Falmer Bar at 7pm for our first social of the year. It's a great opportunity to meet other hosts and people interested in radio, as well as being there with your new URF Committee to ask any questions, get to know us, or to just hang out!

After Falmer Bar, we'll head down to Dead Wax Social at 9pm. For any updates, keep an eye on our story or the announcements channel in our Discord!
