Back in May 2026, we caught up with Ella and Kim from - a relaunched in-house gig curator looking to champion the new, the experimental and the unusual.

With inspiration for ‘Studio 45’ taken from all across the city, and genres panning across (but not limited to) ambient, folk and doom - the space is firmly embedding itself into Brighton’s local music community 🎶

Lizzy went to France and fell in love with a sexy French basil infused cocktail. Upon her return to Brighton, she decided that she wanted to give this cocktail a Tuaca moment.

So, one Friday night at Brighton Electric, with the techno blaring and the ravers out of bed, Lizzy pulled a bottle of Brighton Gin off the posh spirits shelf and set about bringing her holiday lover to her colleagues lips.

50ml Spiced Brighton Gin
30ml lemon
20ml Sweet Vermouth
A bunch of muddled basil (the place smelled f**king delicious)

As far as the bar staff were concerned, the pale green drink was a delight and a success. Lizzy, however, learned that the secret to the most delicious cocktail is not just about using a female owned, vegan, grassroots, family made, local gin, but also to be able to drink it on a hot beach with your hot husband, as your day-to-day simply melts into the background. Even Brighton gin can’t bottle up that kind of sunshine.
