Following the difficult decision to discontinue the Natural Health and Natural Beauty expos for the foreseeable future and focus on developing The Natural & Organic Food Show, Diversified UK & Europe has also taken the difficult step to close Natural Products Online (NPO), the dedicated digital news platform for the natural & organic industry.

A digital transformation of Natural Products News – Britain’s former leading trade magazine for the natural and organic products industry, established in 1993 – NPO has served as a vital hub for industry insight, thought leadership and breaking news, championing the natural and organic movement with integrity and passion. However, in light of a shifting media landscape and evolving industry needs, the decision has been made to discontinue the site and its associated channels.

We are incredibly proud of the role NPO has played in supporting this vibrant community, and we are truly grateful to everyone who has read, contributed to, or supported it over the years.

A major international research initiative has launched in a bid to curb the rising tide of Alzheimer’s disease – not with expensive drugs, but with everyday lifestyle changes.

The UK-based Alzheimer’s prevention charity Food for the Brain Foundation is behind the ambitious project, which aims to test over 20 million people worldwide to determine which combinations of diet and lifestyle factors have the most powerful effect on reducing the risk of dementia. The launch follows the charity’s testing of more than 200,000 people in the UK and comes amid mounting evidence that more than 80% of Alzheimer’s cases could be prevented through simple, non-pharmaceutical interventions.

A groundbreaking international study has found a significant link between the consumption of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) and premature, preventable deaths, prompting renewed calls for urgent public health policies aimed at reducing reliance on industrially processed diets.

Published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, the study analysed dietary and mortality data from eight countries – Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The findings show that higher intake of UPFs is associated with increased all-cause mortality, with up to 14% of premature deaths in some countries attributed to diets high in these foods.
