This week at Small Pond, we had the amazing join us as part of our adult SEN Adult workshop! 🎸✨ They shared invaluable insights on writing, releasing, and promoting independent music, and all round brilliant and inspiring session for everyone involved ✨

About last Saturday 😳…absolutely blown away with the talent, energy, and drive from our young musicians. Over 100 through the doors of The Hope & Ruin(biggest support to date 🙏) with every single performer stepping up to the challenge.

We love what we do here at NRG and it’s made easier by all these wonderful young folk putting in the effort to make an amazing show 🤘

We want more bands in 2024, so get in touch if you want to join a band, make some friends, make some memories, and most importantly, make a lot of noise 🤘🤘

We can’t wait for our Christmas show this Saturday at 🤘doors are at 12:30 with our first band on at 1pm.

Help protect our favourite Brighton venues! Three incredible grassroots venues are at risk including The Hope & Ruin where we run our end of term shows! Info below about what we can do 🤘

PROTECT YOUR GRASSROOTS MUSIC VENUES!

The Hope & Ruin, The Rossi Bar and The Folklore Rooms need your help (again!)

A planning application has been updated and submitted again to add 3 residential flats at 125 Queens Road opposite The Hope & Ruin, Rossi Bar and along from The Folklore Rooms.

Three Grassroots Music Venues will be at risk from Noise Complaints if these flats go ahead.

We need your help in writing objections to let the developer know we are important cultural assets in Brighton & Hove and must be protected.

The key issues to raise are these:
- The importance of these venues to you personally and to culture in Brighton and Hove.
- The risk that noise complaints from the new flats could lead to action being taken against the music venues.
- Express concern that no noise survey has been submitted with the planning application.

The proposal is contrary to the national 'agent of change' planning principle, which requires that existing music venues are not harmed by proposed residential development taking place nearby.

It is also contrary to Policy DM40 of the City Plan Part Two.

We’ve watched too many planning applications like these create issues and in some cases close down venues so we need your help (again) to help us protect these hugely important and much loved cultural hubs.
