A little photo dump from our morning ✨ Money only spent on coffee ☕️
Art, a stroll, a bike ride, coffee, conkers… and a very welcomed interrupted catch-up with my husband (two little monkeys 😂).
Sometimes we feel like ships passing in the night, so a focused family morning is one of my favourite things to do on a Saturday morning.
Thank you to Emma Howell for the FReEcroissants and for sharing her “raw”, unfiltered Motherhood art collection.
The collection really got me thinking about how hard it can be to speak openly about motherhood - about the stuff that is actually going on in our heads.
I think part of it is (well this is my thinking / experience), is because you can be so bloody happy, while at the exact same time carrying struggles. I used to find that so confusing. How can I love being a mum so much, yet also find it one of the hardest things I’ve ever done?
Anyway, the “Becoming” collection was the one that resonated with me most. Slide 2!
I feel like I’ve been five different versions of myself in such a short space of time, yet somehow I still have no idea who I am now.
There has been times in my motherhood journey, where I could only focus on getting through each hour. Then I started noticing the difference between a good day and a bad day, then there was a clear difference in a good / bad week - it might sound strange, but I celebrated feeling the difference. I know expert, but our brains are funny little things, and sometimes you have to literally anchor small positive steps.
Now I feel like I’m slowly getting back to myself.… I’m not even sure what “myself” is anymore.
Maybe that’s the whole point.
I’m looking forward to the next version of me. The next “becoming”. See what I did there?!
I’m not always great with words, but one thing I do know is that motherhood is complex. There’s no one way to do it, and you really can’t compare your journey to anyone else’s - even though, of course, we all do sometimes. ✨
It might have been an art gallery opening (which was amazing! - but it was another reminder that we really do have the BEST parenthood community here in Gloucestershire.
