Fri 25th Sept - Harold Heath & A for Alpha - The Love Inn

I was going through my records this week and pulled out these two classic Harold Heath cuts. Long before I started the label, his dark and groove driven production style really influenced the way I produce music and what I select to play. Here are two of my absolute fave records of his. ‘Schemer’ with that dark, almost garage-esque bassline and ‘Headhunting’ with those bouncy deep house stabs. I feel these records help define what Alpha’s Trip is about and is a taste of what to expect on the 25th Sept! 🧪

What also makes Harold so unique is how he bridges the dance floor and the history of the scene. When I was writing my dissertation on the birth and evolution of tech house, his books and music journalism were some of my essential reference points and I learnt a lot from his work (swipe for a snippet from the research and maybe one day I will share more of what I discovered!) 📖

It’s a rare opportunity to see him play out, which makes getting him down to Bristol for his highly anticipated debut even more special. I’m beyond excited to host him and to see one of the legends of tech house take over our favourite custom booth at The Love Inn 💕

Just dropped copies of AT004 and AT003 into Idle Hands 🌀

This shop is a special place for me so I’m very chuffed to have the records here! When I first moved to Bristol around 10 years ago, the original shop on Stokes Croft was one of the very first places I went. I spent hours digging through the racks, discovering and learning about music, and going to in-store events. Since then, I’ve followed its journey over to City Road, and now to its bright new home on Park Row 🌞

Idle Hands is a proper hub for the city and has been for a long time. The owner Chris Farrell is so great to chat with, I love going in and talking about essential music reads and the evolution of Bristol’s music scene. The shelves are packed with new and old gems, essential dance music books, and reissues of classic tech house and deep house records- (my faves)!

It’s the absolute spot! Go down, have a dig, check the books and grab one of our records! Thank you Chris for this legendary spot 🥏

A massive personal milestone for the label. On 25/09, Alpha’s Trip presents a highly anticipated Bristol debut, welcoming a true underground tech house pioneer to the city for the very first time: Harold Heath 🌀

Following our previous showcases with legends like Terry Francis, we are bringing this edition back to our favourite spot, The Love Inn 💕

The sonic identity of the label and party is heavily built on Harold’s iconic catalogue- stripped back, grooving productions, and his essential music journalism documenting the evolution of the genre. Label head A for Alpha will be on support duties, going on a deep dive through her extensive collection of dark and groovy house records. This night is dedicated to the roots of the sound we love!

It’s so exciting to FINALLY be back at for another party - our favourite spot in the city for so many reasons: the sound, the vibe, the choonz 🪄

For this one, we’re buzzing to welcome for his Bristol debut! A DJ and producer we’ve admired for ages, his sound flows through the many shades of house: tech, prog, and tribal - all rooted in that deep, groove-driven 90s energy 🪩

He’ll be going b2b all night long with label boss 💿 Expect a deep dive through their record bags, a night packed with nothing but groove-heavy trax 👽

Sadly our roll of film didn’t come out properly from our party with Aletha and Joe Koshin - analogue probz 😢

However, it was a blinding night! Energy on the dance floor from the crowd was amazing and the music was spectacular ✨

We will be back at some point, for now here is a picture of some of our fave Bristol crew from our first party - Longeez pictured here has some SICK tunes incoming on the label 😎
