Our Story
Ujima Radio CIC is Bristol's leading African Caribbean and Minority Ethnic arts and media social enterprise and the largest BAME-led organisation in the city whose vision is for an integrated, multi-cultural Bristol where people of all cultures and communities are contributing to the city’s growth and diversity. Ujima provides a platform for artistic, cultural and creative expression and partnership work, including employment training and mentoring with the University of Bristol, UWE and many other public bodies.
Since its inception in 2008 Ujima Radio CIC has enjoyed many successes, being the winners of the National Diversity Awards (2015) and the Community Radio Station of the Year (2016) as well as four other radio and community awards.
Mission
Ujima aims to use radio, cultural heritage, arts, media, events and live coverage to bring together the diverse communities of Bristol, to celebrate cultural diversity and challenge inequality. It seeks to inform, represent, educate, entertain and celebrate the heritage of BAME communities in the region. Ujima provides opportunities for under-represented groups, offering people the chance to develop skills and gain experience in the city's cultural and media sector.
