RIP D'Angelo 🙏
It was 1995. I worked at Cooltempo records doing club promotions.We had a good roster of Us and uk artists, then D’angelo arrived.We signed him to our uk label and my faith in real musicianship and soul was reborn. He literally changed the game and opened the door for the likes of Maxwell, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill and Jill Scott to thrive at major labels. He made me want to go to work everyday just to try and convince one more dj to play his music. I am so saddened by his loss at such a young age to cancer only months after we lost his soul collaborator Angie Stone. Thoughts and prayers to their son who must be devastated .It’s all too much to take. Let’s just keep playing his music 💔💔💔
