We’re just starting to get in our panels from our orders. One of my favourites is this Vestax DF-500 rotary kit for the PMC-500. Cut from 3mm thick anodised aluminium, all the holes are CNC milled and the artwork is silk screen printed on. Each rotary kit is hand assembled by me on our own boards with JST connectors, ALPS blue velvet pots and 5% tolerance resistors like the original. The k***s are milled from solid aluminium, bead blasted to give a textured feel and then anodised. All together this makes for an absolutely superb upgrade for the PMC-500.

What lies beneath 😱. This PMC-07 had intermittent power supply issues, found the I/O board had been absolutely massacred. Lifted traces, burnt off pads and toasted parts of the board. My temporary repair isn’t particularly beautiful but it works, I think my next step will be to create a “graft” board which mimics the traces and sits on top of the existing PCB which can then be soldered in place by surrounding components.

NERD ALERT: I’ve had an influx of Rane TTM series mixers come in for service / sale. It’s frequently the case that the faders have died after being connected incorrectly. So after sent over a Rane Sixty One which has a different type of fader PCB I decided to make my own PCB which bridges both versions. Mimicking the design it uses the same sensors, surface mount caps and connectors as the originals but enables you to swap it between 8 different models. The 6 pin header is gold plated and also shows the pin out for easy troubleshooting. This was a super satisfying build to make and will be available in the store soon.

We’re building up more of our Vestax IF-05 compatible input faders (used in the 05, 06) Each one is carefully handmade. Custom designed gold plated PCBs, gold plated Molex headers, carefully bent and soldered Yageo resistors and Nichicon capacitors for reliability.

It’s not just Vestax we work on. We had this A&H Xone 62 come in for a repair, apparently none of the line inputs were working but phono was. Checking the schematic we found that it’s a direct connection from line to each channel card which is shared by both inputs so if phono was working there wasn’t much to go wrong except for the headers or the ribbon cables. I wasn’t able to replicate the fault prior to disassembly but just in case I re-soldered the headers, checked the ribbon cables, serviced the faders and gave the buttons and faceplate an ultrasonic bath before thoroughly testing the unit.

Can’t sell a Vestax PDX-3000 without the proper slipmat. I re-produced the original designs for the PDX-3000 and PDX-2000 series. 16oz glazed for a super slippery finish.

Needed something cooler to wear for the upcoming Unstoppable DJ Battle in Bristol and I’ve been meaning to make this design for ages. Since some of our favourite mixers come from Japan it made complete sense to do an homage to the country they were made in. Vestax nerds will no doubt spot the HS-1 headshell on the rising sun.

Here we have a very rare one. A modded Vestax PMC-CX by Vestax UK back in the day, only 2 were ever made. One belonging to my customer and the other one was owned by who commission the mod. The unit has assignable send and return effects, simply press the LED button to enable the channel. It’s a very impressive implementation with custom etched PCBs. This CX has sat in a cupboard for 10 years gathering dust, soon to be serviced and back up and running.

Stressful times, opening up parcel with a Vestax PDX-3000 turntable. Will it work? Luckily they did a fantastic job of removing the platter as per my request and placing it directly underneath the turntable. This one needs a slight tidy up and check of electronics then it’ll be on to for an inspection before sale.

Last week we sold two 05 Pro SL mixers but luckily we’ve just had this super clean Vestax PMC-05 Pro SL come in to replenish our stock. It’s 90% of its way through a service, and will be soon available for sale on the site. Comes with a DC-15 PSU, compatible foot switch and 1 year warranty.
