This significant achievement paves the way for scalable quantum computers in the future.

Quantum computers, considered the next frontier of computing, promise faster computation capabilities that could help humanity address challenges in medicine, astronomy, and climate change. They use quantum bits, or qubits, to store information.

Unlike classical bits in silicon-based computers, which can either be in an ‘on’ state or an ‘off’ state, qubits can be both on and off simultaneously while occupying a range of states in between, a phenomenon known as superposition. This allows quantum algorithms to process information much faster than even the world’s fastest supercomputers.

Researchers are exploring various quantum systems to determine the best methods for working with qubits.
