Andy completed a survey today in one of Lancashire’s most remarkable Tudor buildings — and, according to tradition, the very place where a young William Shakespeare is said to have performed around 1585 as part of a troupe.
From the intricate timber framing to the centuries-old Great Hall, every detail here tells a story.

And now the summer holidays have started for all schools, and like every summer we have engineers in a variety of buildings. Although a lot of the work for the next 6 weeks will be in schools and colleges there is still a large variety involved with the cabling.

The pictured schools are two of our regular customers but as there is about 600 years seperating when they were built, they are very different from a cabling perspective.

Even in modern school buildings, cable runs can be anything from a few metres to 300m for a fibre link, we could be repairing damaged sockets or installing a new projector and whiteboard with associated cabling and sockets. Cabling may be underground or running on catenary wires from cherry pickers. We can cover it all.

We still have some capacity though so if you need any assistance then let us know.

Are you looking to free up some space, cut the clutter and stay connected?

TV Net recently helped a client streamline their comms room by combining the contents of two overcrowded cabinets into a single, properly managed rack. This was able to save space, improve airflow and simplify future maintenance. The migration was handled smoothly and efficiently, with minimal disruption.

Smarter infrastructure = smoother operations.

We are in that transition week where our work changes from places that attract tourists/visitors to the education sector. Engineers are working on colleges and private schools that have already finished for summer but still at places like the pictured UNESCO world heritage site.

It's a nice mix of customers that look to have cabling installed at very different times during the year. Also we have a steady flow of general office, manufacturing, care homes etc. installations that require us throughout the year.

We still have capacity though so for any network cabling, in any sector then please get in touch.

Thanks to Tech South West and Edmundson Electrical Ltd in Avonmouth for using TVNET for new cabling installations.

While on a survey, Andrew Nash was asked to quote for the testing only of some pre-installed cables. That’s fine we are happy to do this but as Andy noticed the module was a slightly different shade of white to the faceplate and the customer said it was a Cat6a installation he asked if he could remove one to take a look.

His thoughts confirmed, this was a poorly terminated job. Andy said to the customer “I assume it wasn’t a cabling company that did this”, to which the response was “no, an electrician”.

The cable has been stripped too much, a Cat6 module has been used so there is no way this would pass the cable testing. Now we have to supply the correct modules and probably move some of the sockets in the dado to compensate for how much has been stripped.

Everyone thinks data cabling is easy, but you need to know what you are doing to get the most of the network. Now money is going to need to be spent to rectify errors.

We have engineer at the home of another iconic person from British history. This was the home of Sir Francis Drake, although he hardly spent any time here being the first Englishmen to circumnavigate the globe (3 year voyage) and leading the victory against the Spanish Armada.

The property was built in 1278 as a monastery and as you can see it still retains elements of this.

In between completing a survey, tools were set aside and a sunny blue sky overhead, the engineer stopped to admire the view.

It’s not every day you get a sky this blue in England. Grateful for the view and the moment to pause.

An old before/after picture but Andrew Nash has this on standby whenever he completes a survey as there are so many data cabinets out there looking like the one on the left. It's a great demonstration on what we can do to make the cabinet much more user friendly.

Some better length patchleads and some cable management goes a long way. This particular site was done overnight so there was no downtime for staff and a very happy IT team now they can finally see what is going on and make changes with ease.

🧠 Mental Health Awareness Week 💚
May 12.05.25 – 18.05.25

This week is a powerful reminder that mental health matters just as much as physical health. Whether you're navigating stress, anxiety, depression, or simply need a break—you are not alone.

✅ It's okay to take a break.
✅ It's okay to ask for help.
✅ It's okay to say "I'm not okay."

Let’s break the stigma. Let’s support each other. Let’s make mental wellness a priority, every day.

As employer we have a supportive environment at TV Net and we recognize the importance of mental health. We have flexible hours or remote work to accommodate individual needs.

You are not alone—and you never have to face things by yourself.

Today, Sir David Attenborough celebrates his 99th birthday, marking nearly a century of dedication to exploring and preserving the natural world. Born on May 8, 1926, in Isleworth, England, Attenborough has become a global icon in natural history broadcasting.

Sir David Attenborough is Britain’s best known and most loved Natural History Filmmaker. Sir David has supported the work of the WLT since its foundation in 1989 and became a WLT patron in 2003.

TV NET is pleased to be working with WLT who shares the same values.

TV NET is working to reduce its environmental impact – the company has switched to electric business vehicles, implemented a waste recycling programme and their main supplier has eliminated single use plastic in packaging.

TV NET is pledging a minimum annual donation of £1,000. A donation of £100 will be derived through every new client onboarded to save one acre of threatened habitat through WLT’s Buy an Acre programme. WLT will use donations to fund the purchase and protection of critically threatened land through WLT’s Buy an Acre programme, working with WLT’s overseas conservation partners. Currently WLT’s Buy an Acre projects are where land can be purchased for an average of £100 an acre.
