A recent comms cabinet clean-up by one of our engineers made a big difference.

Embedded dust and restricted airflow don’t just look untidy - they cause heat issues, slow performance, and shorten equipment life. Whilst the tidy cabinet is nice, the key importance is functionality.

Clean, well-organised cabinets run cooler, perform better, and last longer.

Happy Birthday to us, today TVNET is 21 years old.

So much has changed since our earlier years. For a long time we were just the labour for other companies, wore their branded clothing and had to drive unbranded vans.

As time went on and we continued working hard and making a name for ourselves we started getting approached directly by a variety of organistions to complete cabling projects.

Now we plaster our logo everywhere and it is difficult to miss one of our vehicles. We do still collaborate with other companies but they are happy to state we will complete the cabling. With all our accreditations, experience and knowledge within our industry it adds to their offering.

Where does the name TVNET come from?

A question that comes up quite a lot at networking events is, why the name TVNET? We rarely mention TV work. (Often people think we are called V NET when they just see the logo)

The company was set up by two people, one had a background in TV installations (satellite, aerials etc) and the other had a background of installing network cabling (phone, copper, fibre). So TVNET covered those aspects.

As time has gone on we have done less in the TV area except for larger scale installations, fibre systems, multiple occupancy as we aren't competitive on the smaller, standard domestic installations.

For data cabling we can undertake all levels of work from a single socket fault to thousands of new cables.

Finally the sun is shining and just in time for our engineer who is attending the pictured site today. Although he is working within the house it is a nice backdrop to take in for a lunch break.

When this 'garden' was put together in the 1740s a magazine at the time described it as "a living work of art", a statement that is still very much true today. Who wouldn't want to be able to have a little walk around a "world-famous landscape garden has at its centrepiece a magnificent lake reflecting classical temples, mystical grottoes, and rare and exotic trees".

These may not seem like the sort of properties we usually work in and certainly don't look as impressive as the images we usually share on LinkedIn.

We aren't just cabling the properties that are hundreds of years old, we are also working on properties that will probably still have a public interest hundreds of years from now.

The 2 pictured properties are the childhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. It maybe that in the future they are viewed as pioneers of modern music and their work studied in the same way we look at the works of Shakespear today.

By installing the backbone for a good network visitors can have a more interactive experience when visiting.

TVNET are now B Corp Certified! Not only that, currently we are the only data cabling company in the country to be able to say this.

At TVNET we’ve always believed in doing the right thing, not just in the cabling we complete but also what we do behind the scenes. From choosing our suppliers, dealing with site waste, donating to charitable causes, rewarding staff, creating a positive working environment… The list is endless.

So many aspects of the business have been assessed in order to meet the required level for B Corp certification.

And now the summer holidays have started for all schools, and like every summer we have engineers in a variety of buildings. Although a lot of the work for the next 6 weeks will be in schools and colleges there is still a large variety involved with the cabling.

The pictured schools are two of our regular customers but as there is about 600 years seperating when they were built, they are very different from a cabling perspective.

Even in modern school buildings, cable runs can be anything from a few metres to 300m for a fibre link, we could be repairing damaged sockets or installing a new projector and whiteboard with associated cabling and sockets. Cabling may be underground or running on catenary wires from cherry pickers. We can cover it all.

Are you looking to free up some space, cut the clutter and stay connected?

TV Net recently helped a client streamline their comms room by combining the contents of two overcrowded cabinets into a single, properly managed rack. This was able to save space, improve airflow and simplify future maintenance. The migration was handled smoothly and efficiently, with minimal disruption.

Smarter infrastructure = smoother operations.

We are in that transition week where our work changes from places that attract tourists/visitors to the education sector. Engineers are working on colleges and private schools that have already finished for summer but still at places like the pictured UNESCO world heritage site.

It's a nice mix of customers that look to have cabling installed at very different times during the year. Also we have a steady flow of general office, manufacturing, care homes etc. installations that require us throughout the year.

We still have capacity though so for any network cabling, in any sector then please get in touch.
