It’s been a busy start to the year for us so we’re a bit late to the party here…

But we’re thrilled to be able to tell you that Adra has finally been released into the world, so if you haven’t managed to catch it yet, now is your chance.

It wouldn’t be without an incredible adventure film with a twist from

‘Alpha’ sees three men , & , each with life changing spinal cord injuries, attempt to cross the largest ice cap in Western Europe, while exploring the physical and mental journeys they’ve been on since their accidents.

Director asked us to really amp up the contrasting environments that the team experienced during their crossing of the Ice Cap. We pushed the intensity of the sound design as the scenes jumped between crazy storm winds which threatened to derail the expedition, to the days of dead calm air and the repetitive ‘shh, shh, shhh…’ of the skis, the poles stabbing into the ice and the rustling of the guys' coats.

asked us if we knew any teams heading out into challenging environments that would test the resilience of their microphones, this seemed to be the perfect opportunity! Matt and the Coldhouse team pushed the equipment to the extreme and we were staggered by the quality of the location recording, even during the wildest storms.

Following journeys of hardship, courage, and endurance, 'Rider Resilience - The Film' dives into the lives of three inspiring riders -

Narrated by the renowned , this film isn’t just about the thrill of cycling but about the strength and resilience it takes to face life’s most daunting challenges. The message of the film is as powerful, clear and simple as can be, "just get on and turn the pedals and see what it does for your body and your mental health".

As keen mountain bikers ourselves we loved working with Director on this film, shaping the various environments and rebuilding the bike shots to create a rich soundscape but essentially just letting the stories carry the film.

'Untethered’ premiering at follows and her all female crew as she becomes the first blind woman to swim the English Channel.

Director Danielle Sellwood and editor wanted to demonstrate Melanie's heightened hearing sense as a blind person. So, we rebuilt the soundscape, exaggerating the waves and wind, the creaking of the boat, each swimming stroke, and adding subtle foley details.

Film score by Para Orchestral leader, and Bristol local , Recorded, produced and mixed by our friend

The film has been created with accessibility as a priority, with open captions, integrated audio description and BSL on screen. It will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Danielle Sellwood, Melanie and some of her crew members. Untethered is part of the Sky Sports New Focus Fund.

When we started working on back in July, we had no doubt it would make its way to Kendal.
mj.hamper a lifelong climber and physics teacher, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 8 years ago. The film explores how the disorder has affected his climbing, both mentally and physically, but also reveals the positive effects climbing has on his symptoms.

Director .uk more or less left us to do our thing, but shared with us a few ideas he had for the film, which worked really well. He wanted to use natural sound to reflect the mood of each scene, so it was interesting playing around with subtle differences in the soundscape to do this. Jess also wanted to make sure we kept in the audible rustling from Chris’ Parkinson tremor - something we would normally be battling to take out - as it is obviously a very clear demonstration of his symptoms, particularly at moments of heightened emotion.

It was an honour to work on this film, and it was great to have Jess come to our studios in Bristol to do the final mix review.

With just around the corner, we’re delighted to share that we have worked on four incredible films screening this year.

Kendal is the biggest outdoor film festival in the UK, and one of the most diverse of it’s kind, so it’s a huge honour to have our work showcased to the amazing community of outdoor enthusiasts who attend.

The four films we worked on are all so different, yet each of them feature people with incredible passion, resilience, strength and determination, despite the challenges life has thrown at them.

We’ll be sharing some more information about each of these films individually over the next few days so keep an eye out!

Amazing news from that Adra has won Best Climbing Film!!!

Massively deserved, and a huge congratulations to all the cast, crew, and everyone involved, particularly Emma, Menna and Harriet. We’re not at all surprised it’s nabbed another trophy.

We loved working on the Sound Design, Tracklay and Mix of this last year and it’s been great to see the brilliant response it’s had from the various festivals and tours.

It’s always a pleasure to work with Coldhouse, not only for your consistently beautiful cinematography and story-telling, but the creative-licence you trust in us.

Here’s to many more collaborations on great films!
