The agency was set up by Dawn Smith, who has worked with children across all aspects of her career. From her years working in the wardrobe department on national UK and Ireland musical tours, to her career within the production office for film and TV. Her belief that ALL children should have the opportunity to be involved in the arts is the driving force behind Briz Kidz Casting. It was during her
time working on BBC’s Wolf Hall that she first saw the struggles visiting companies faced when casting children and babies on their productions. She also realised that local children were missing out on amazing opportunities right on their doorstep. She witnessed this on every production on which she worked and became increasingly frustrated with the situation. Dawn decided to bridge the gap between productions and local children by setting up an agency to meet this need – Briz Kidz was born. The support from the industry was overwhelming and our first booking, for Poldark Series 3, came very quickly, before we’d officially launched the company. Since then our reputation has grown beyond our imagination. Briz Kidz have an unmatched standing in the industry for professional, local Chaperones, Tutors and young talent. Our reach now stretches across the Southwest and Wales, covering Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Cornwall, Devon, Newport, Cardiff and beyond. We work with productions for TV, Online and Cinematic release and our Kidz can be seen in programmes for BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky, Fox, Netflix, YouTube and many more.
