Remember when we said a small agency could make a very big noise? 📢

Last night at the UK Agency Awards, we put that to the test – and came home with two trophies:
🏆 Advertising Agency of the Year (small)
🏆 Independent Agency of the Year (small)

Nicola & Kayleigh did the honours on stage, but these accolades belong to the whole crew – for every pitch, every edit and every shoot that got us here. We couldn’t be prouder of the team.

And a huge thank you goes to our clients too; every brief we’ve been trusted with plays a big part in this.

Massive congratulations to all the winners and finalists, and thanks to Don’t Panic Events for a cracking night.

We told you to get the good glasses out. Good thing we did 🥂

A few days in Ibiza. Plenty of big ideas. Very little sleep.

Nicola Reeves just back from the Agency Hackers Ibiza Super Summit, where the talk was all about knowing your numbers, backing your ideas and working out what makes you worth coming back to ✨

Highlights included Jay Neale’s and Ryan Hall’s “Profit Like It’s Hot”, Daniel Priestley on building your own signature playbook, and Tony Truman’s reminder that everyone’s a VIP 🌟

🚨 Next Wednesday we’re hosting ‘Making TV Advertising More Effective: Curiosity, Craft & Conversion’ - an event for marketing and brand leaders investing in TV.

📺 We’re bringing together experts from all stages of the TV buying process - creative agency Happy Hour, paid media agency Flight Feather, and broadcaster ITV - plus a few special guests.

We’ll tackle these three key pillars and more:
Curiosity: What questions can you ask that’ll have tangible impacts on effectiveness?
Craft: This is often talked about in terms of how an ad looks, e.g. making it pretty or cinematic. But what does craft actually do for effectiveness?
Conversion: What separates an effective campaign that generates sales from one that’s ineffective?

23 years in, and the past 12 months will be hard to beat 🏆

We’ve worked with the likes of the National Trust, WaterAid and Arsenal. We’ve filmed all over the world. We’ve welcomed new faces to the team. And we’ve enjoyed more than a few of Happy Hour’s happy hours along the way 🥂

It was also the year Campaign Magazine ranked us as a top 20 agency for the first time. Not bad for an independent agency from Bristol 🥳

A big thank you goes to our clients, our collaborators and the Happy Hour crew who got us here. Here’s to the next chapter ✨

This is one we’ve been looking forward to sharing. We’re so proud to be partnering with this Christmas 🎅

Lots of our team have already played a small part in supporting their mission, long before they became a client. Some of us have volunteered, donated what we no longer needed, discovered unexpected treasures on their shelves, and supported their work over the years ♻️

So, to be trusted to tell their story at Christmas, is a huge privilege and a responsibility that is not lost on us.

Christmas is one of the few times a year when people stop and pay attention to the stories brands and charities tell. Getting the chance to help tell Oxfam’s story is a big honour, and a commitment we don’t take lightly 🎄

Five job titles. One Aisha. Zero surprise she got here.

Freelance Runner. Production Assistant. Production Coordinator. Production Manager. And, as of this month, Junior Producer 🎬

Aisha joined us permanently back in 2018 and has spent eight years learning Happy Hour from the ground up – how a shoot really comes together, what makes a production day run like clockwork, and what it takes to turn a brief into something we’re proud of.

That kind of grounding doesn’t just make a great production manager. It also makes a great producer ✨

Best team in the business. Probably biased (but definitely not wrong) ✨

Last Thursday, with Bristol hitting 35 degrees and showing absolutely no signs of cooling down, we marked summer the only way that felt right – drinks at the studio, then out onto the water for a harbourside cruise, before finishing the night at a tapas bar 🥂

Two decades in and we still reckon the people make the place. Grateful for every one of them 🙏

Two awards presented. One very proud Executive Producer 🏆

Tiff was at last week for the Graduate Screening and Awards Ceremony – and what an afternoon it was.

A packed house, beaming families, and a room full of graduates who’ve worked hard to get there.

Many of these graduates have spent time on Happy Hour shoots – getting hands-on experience, learning the craft, and seeing how a proper production comes together. Safe to say the future of British filmmaking is in very good hands.

Big love to the brilliant for leading such a fantastic programme. It was also great to see the wonderful on presenting duties on the night 🎬

Last week our MD Nicola Reeves spent the day at Google for Round 2 of the Independent Agency Awards – judging one of 20+ categories alongside a roomful of fellow independents 🏆

Which one she judged is staying firmly under wraps - but she can say this: the calibre of entries was high, the debate went the distance, and her table landed on a unanimous winner 🏅

A proper reminder of how much sharp, ambitious work is coming out of the UK’s independent scene right now.
