Narrated by Hugh Bonneville – ‘Born to Be Wild’ is now streaming on Apple TV+. 🐻

Follow six extraordinary animals, raised in our world, as they learn key survival skills and bring hope for the future of their species in the wild.

It was a pleasure to help tell the story of these six endangered young animals and bring their worlds to life sonically.

Volume up 🔊 Can you hear the reverb?

Here's how you can use a recording of a space to make sounds more immersive. In the video, the woodpecker call is placed into a forest.

An impulse response (IR) is a recording of a short loud sound, like a balloon pop or clap. As this sound reflects and decays, it interacts with surfaces and objects in complex ways. Recording this profile allows it to be applied to other sounds by using a convolution reverb.

For example, if an impulse response is recorded in the same room as dialogue, that reverb profile can be applied to ADR to make it blend more convincingly.

Complex spaces like forests, staircases and reflective rooms also benefit from real recordings as opposed to synthetic reverb.

ADR is an essential part of top-level dialogue in film and tv 🎤

Automated Dialogue Replacement is the term used for recording voice that was compromised on set - performance, wind or other background sounds can affect this. When a piece of dialogue doesn't have the desired sound, productions will often book a session to record the talent repeating those lines.

Great ADR should match the microphones and perspectives on set, through the use of personal lavalier and professional shotgun microphones. A comfortable environment with accurate prompting and high quality remote connectivity will give the talent the best chance of success.

Wounded Buffalo's experienced team work to the needs of clients to achieve the best possible results for recorded dialogue.
