Our July edition is now out and being delivered across Bradley Stoke. You can also download it via the link below.

WOW Happy 20th Birthday to Us! It’s hard to believe that what started as something to do whilst I stayed at home with my first born (soon discovering there was no where to find out any local information on the community in which I lived), has grown into a 20 year endeavour - with both of my children now at University!

A huge thank you to all of our local community and to all of our advertisers who have supported us over the last 20 years. Amazingly our very first advertiser, Medway Design, is still with us, along with many other small businesses owners who have been working locally and advertising with us since our old black and white days. Initially, as you can see from our very first front cover, highlighted on this edition’s front cover, we only delivered to 6000 homes, and now we cover 15,000. We have also spread to cover neighbouring areas.

We have seen many changes over the years and have covered in our pages, and been present for, a lot of Bradley Stoke history in this time. We are also not the only ones celebrating 20 years! Both the Bradley Stoke Festival and 10k run also held their first events in 2005, the Bradley Stoke Football Club was founded in 2005 and the Bradley Stoke Community School also opened its doors to its first cohort in September 2005. This is off the top of my head! I am sure there are others.

Inside our pages this month we bring you reports from the activities over the Bradley Stoke Festival weekend, along with more local events for you to enjoy over the coming summer months. We have school news from three of our local primary schools, notice of forthcoming school open days that we have been made aware of, as well as a new local author in our community - his novel sounds intriguing!

If you are a business looking to promote your services across the local area, do get in touch and we will be happy to help. And please, if you get the opportunity, do let our advertisers know that you have seen them within our pages.

As I write this it is 28 degrees outside! Enjoy the summer and enjoy the read, with a glass of something cool!Deadline for the July edition is 18th July 2025.

Amazingly, it is 10 years since the St Michael's Church Centre in Stoke Gifford opened. Many of our longer term readers may remember how we regularly followed the project's progress and development of the Centre 'in the Heart of the Community' from 2013 until its final opening. There will be a celebration to commemorate this milestone on 14th June - read more here ...

Opened in April 2015, the Centre has since become a vital and vibrant space serving a wide range of functions —...

Welcome to the June issue of your local community magazine. Our front cover illustrates some of the local recognition of the 80th anniversary of VE day on 8th May in remembrance of all those who fought, suffered and died for us all. Thank you to BSTC Councillor Ben Randles and SGPC John Rendell for the photos.

What a great issue we have for you again this month! If you’ve never heard of the local Repair Cafe, turn the page and you can read all about this local initiative and even get involved! Bradley Stoke Festival takes place over the weekend of 7th and 8th of June, let’s hope this fantastic weather of late makes a return for this great community event. Also on 8th June you are invited to travel over 600 years back in history with the Winterbourne Barn Medieval Day. There will be lots of new performers and crafts-people transporting you back to medieval times!

We also have updates from our Police Commissioner and our local MP, as well as the Old School Room Scouts, Little Stoke Ladies Club, ROKH Dance group, amongst others. Abbeywood Community School share their positive Ofsted feedback and also news on further expansion of the ‘Good in every category’ secondary school.

We have a number of new advertisers joining us this edition, including the new owners of the family run convenience store in Stoke Gifford (see opposite). As you will have noticed from our front cover it has been 20 years since we started the Bradley Stoke Matters magazine back in the summer of 2025, with the Stokes joining shortly thereafter. We have seen many changes over the years and our very first advertiser, Medway Design, is still with us all these years later, along with many others who have been with us from our early black and white days!

If you are a business looking to promote your services across the local area, do get in touch and we will be happy to help. And please, if you get the opportunity, do let our advertisers know that you have seen them within our pages. Enjoy the Read!

Deadline for the July edition is 13th June 2025.
