How To Train Your Dragon prelimary tests. We worked on the how to train your dragon launch party installation with the fantastic Feed Me Light who came to our city’s amazing Bristol Beacon so we could run content tests on the Hologauze.

As we come to the end of a fantastic summer for Holotronica we flash back to one of the exciting events we have been involved in. Back in May, the box office smash, How to Train Your Dragon 2 launched internationally. Working with the epic team at , our MD Stuart Warren-Hill flew out to Sao Paulo to install a 15m Hologauze for Universal Pictures launch event. The Sao Paulo cityscape shone beyond and showed off the unsurpassed brightness and transparency of Hologauze. The installation used 8 x 20k Lumen stacked projectors and the the Hologauze was installed using catenary wires attached to the vaulted roof frame.

Our new demo space is looking amazing. We gave our first demo at Holotronica HQ yesterday. We opened our doors to 12 guests, international delegates from the Department of Business and Trade who came to meet us and see what we do here. They were super impressed by our demo and hope to help us to develop our international reach further. After over two years of searching for the perfect home for Holotronica to grow, our new studio ‘Church House’ is fantastic! If you want to come and visit us and see what we do then get in touch.

WE HAVE MOVED :) Holotronica has a new HQ in LA! Well in Long Ashton, Bristol and we are very excited to be working at beautiful Church House built in 1907. We have a large hall with a stage so we are able to present Hologauze demonstrations like never before. We also hope to hire the hall for parties, corporate events, video/photo shoots and art exhibitions. We'll let you know when its the moving in party ;) watch this space for updates on the renovations and installations.

Creating hologram effects with Hologauze doesn't always need large installation projectors. For displays under 4m wide, our clients have had lots of success using the range of 5k lumen projectors that are available with integrated ultra short throw lenses.

This can make producing installations much cheaper and also help when space is tight with throw ratios as low as 0.16:1. Holotronica recommend these options from Panasonic UK Christie Digital Epson BenQ

Our clients often ask us about the effectiveness of stacking projectors and the resulting effect on projection brightness. Here's a simple summary from Da-lite's "Angles Of View", Vol. IV, 11 titled "Light Reading":

Quote:
"A misconception prevalent in our industry and erroneously promulgated by the author of these articles has been that double stacking projectors produces less than twice as much light. This assumption, we are now pleased to understand, is not true. 1 + 1 does = 2; every time.

In an important sense, however, this lineally additive quality of lumens is true only if the device measuring them is other than the human eye. Our eyes, you see, do not respond to changes in brightness in a straight, linear fashion. Instead, they react logarithmically to changes in their input and thus, for instance, we are able to find our way out of a darkened movie theater, yet continue to see when we emerge onto the brightly lit street outside it.

If we array a human audience before some screen and first illuminate it with a 1,000 lumen projector and then turn on a second 1,000 lumen projector, will the audience see twice as bright an image? No, it will not. The perceived brightness will increase only by about 50%. It will not double."
