Our members have full access to all our equipment and facilities for no charge, and the opportunity to come listen to our speakers, go on trips to scenic parts of Europe, as well as participating in our photographic tuition and workshops. We'll be at FRESH if you want to join up, or come along to any of our events and sign up there. As ever if you have any questions you can contact one of the comm

What can we offer you? Facilities
We have extensive facilities within the student’s union. These include well-equipped chemical darkrooms, a ‘digital darkroom’ and a large collection of various film and digital cameras, studio gear and other photographic equipment, all of which is available free to all members. Trips
Travelling both locally and internationally we run more trips than any other university photographic society in the country. Workshops
Designed to teach anyone, from complete beginners to hardened pros, we have workshops running throughout the year. There will be regular Studio Workshops, where you can learn the art of lighting and professional portraiture. In the darkrooms we also cover film developing, printing, basic photography. This year we will be working to also bring you workshops on trips. Talks
As in previous years we will be bringing you weekly talks covering all areas of photography. Starting with our Intro to PhotoSoc, subjects will range from photographic techniques and digital editing to seminar discussions and debates. We'll also be having external speakers coming in to talk on their experiences as professional photographers. Events Team
The Events Team collaborates with other Bristol based societies allowing members to gain photographic experience in a variety of events, from sports to gigs, parties to private functions, as well as formal studio shots. Where appropriate, we will offer training before and during events. We’d love for anyone who is eager to develop their photography skills to join the team, regardless of experience and what equipment you may have. Photosoc can provide kit where necessary. Competitions
With heats every fortnight and an informative marking scheme, where you can see how and why we apply scores - giving you as much feedback on your photography as possible, this should keep you on your toes and provide some great photography ideas. Scores will cumulate over the year leading to the Grand Exhibition after Easter. Socials
Being taught to take perfect pictures is all very well, but half the fun is being able to socialise with people who share the same interests. Our socials are a great opportunity to meet other like-minded members, learn a little and have a great time. Come along to our regular tea social every Wednesday in Papaji’s on Whiteladies Rd. Relax and discuss anything from technology to techniques. Compare photos, get the best out of your camera, or learn to use one from scratch.
