ABOUT THE BOOK: RIPPLES
Abeo is a fifteen-year-old boy who is still reeling from the loss of his dad and who has just been sent to Pupil Referral Unit in Lambeth, South London. As he struggles to navigate this new, unfamiliar environment, his life begins to unravel and when violence comes to the gates of the school, he searches desperately for a way out.

Tiha is his older sister who, two years later, cannot come to terms with what happened. How does she begin to confront the pain that eats away at her every day? How does she use the same pain to rebuild everything that was destroyed and eventually do the unthinkable: forgive.

Inspired by a heart-breaking but incredible true story, Ripples is story of grief and pain, but more importantly, one of courage, resilience and bravery.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: CJ CARROLL
Cillian is an Irish teacher and writer based in Dublin, Ireland. He spent the first seven years of his teaching career in London, including time in Lambeth, South London. He spent many years working with vulnerable young people and their families on the fringes of society in a pastoral capacity. While teaching in the UK, he was shocked and angered by the daily challenges his students faced and the trauma they experienced on such an alarmingly regular basis.

Cillian returned to Dublin in 2021 and in the same year, 30 teenagers were murdered on the streets of London including a number of ex-pupils from the school he taught in. Spurred on by this and inspired by the incredible young people he worked with in London, he began working on what would become his debut novel. As an English teacher raised in a house of books, he always believed in the power of words to inspire change and hopes that his writing will inspire conversation and open up dialogue with young people about serious youth violence and the effect it continues to have on communities.

When he is not writing, he can be found in at home in North Dublin with his beautiful wife and son.

Meet the Author: ‘Where Do My Roots Go?’ by Zara Ahsan Kazkouzeh
https://www.arkbound.com/bookshop/p/where-do-my-roots-go
The experience of displacement can leave children with overwhelming feelings they don’t always understand. Inspired by stories and conversations with refugee children, this heart-warming and empowering book delves into the complex emotions associated with displacement, separation from home and the challenges of starting anew.

Using simple language, Where Do My Roots Go? illustrates how an uprooted plant can still flourish once it’s provided with sunlight, water and soil. The same is true for us – even those who leave their home behind can find strength, resilience and happiness when surrounded by people who love and care for them. This book aims to help children recognise and make sense of their emotions, exploring the concept of ‘big feelings’ and asking the question, ‘what makes a home, home?’

As a psychoeducational resource, Where Do My Roots Go? offers self-help techniques and encourages mindfulness for parents and caregivers to foster resilience and healing.

ABOUT THE TITLE: This is is a raw and resonant poetry collection about grief, identity, and survival. Told through the lens of working-class life, it moves through the five stages of grief – denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance – capturing the heartbreak and resilience of lives shaped by struggle. These poems don’t just ask you to reflect, they ask you to feel. Read it front to back, or jump in where it hurts the most. Either way, this isn’t just poetry. It’s survival in verse.

ABOUT THE WRITER: Amanda Walsh is a poet and artist based in Reading, whose work explores grief, class, mental health, and the everyday beauty found in survival. After decades working in nursing and care roles, Amanda returned to education and found her voice through poetry and visual art. Her debut collection, 'A Requiem for Biscuit Town', draws from lived experience – of working-class life, personal loss, and recovery from trauma – offering raw, compassionate insight into what it means to heal.

All funds raised will go towards the publication of A Requiem for Biscuit Town by Amanda Walsh – covering editing, marketing, eBook conversion and cover design. Our goal is £3,000. Any donations exceeding £2,000 will help fund a dedicated publicist and wider publicity campaign, so the book can reach more people who may truly need it. "
