Playing in the rain isn't just about chucking on the waterproofs and hoping for the best. The wet conditions completely change how the golf ball reacts, and if you don't adjust your strategy, your scorecard is going to take a serious beating.

👉 Why you lose clubhead speed in the rain because of the extra layers
👉 How water on the clubface reduces spin and creates 'flyers' out of the rough

If I had £1 for every time I've heard that this week 💷

Let's be honest, playing in the pouring rain is a bit of a grind, especially if you aren't prepared for it. But if you’re one of the dedicated ones actually teeing it up today, you need to make sure you're properly kitted out and know how to adjust to give yourself a chance of putting a score together.

The rain changes everything. Wet rough creates flyers, bunkers turn into concrete or sludge and the greens completely change pace.

I’m dropping a full video right here on the page at midday today showing exactly how I manage my way around when it's absolutely tipping it down.

Walton Heath. What an absolutely stunning venue.

I recently got the opportunity to take the cameras out to this heathland masterpiece for a full 18 holes, and I've got to say, the place is just on another level. The history, the immaculate fairways, the absolute punishment of that heather... it's a bucket-list track for a reason.

I also decided to put the brand new Titleist GTS3 driver straight into the bag for its first proper on-course test.

My goal for the day was simple: see if I could break par on a proper Championship setup. I won't give the final score away, you'll have to watch the video to see if I actually got the job done or if the course won. . . but let's just say it was a very eventful round!
