Here are another two views from the same flight in 2011 as yesterday's photo. This shows the erosion to the area behind the beach, a red Eilean Mor Restaurant and the changing frontage along shore road. Particular interest in the second pic to Isles Ander family and many others who have homes in this shot. You can zoom in using the magnifying tool if you view full screen. G

Taken at 2.34pm on 30th May 2011, this is one of 400 photos I took from a helicopter based, at the time, in Shiskine. Most significantly, it shows the old pier, a functioning McLaren Hotel AND a functioning Caledonian Isles. From my perspective, it also features a rough bit of land which is now my house and garden.
Can you spot anything other changes in the 14 years since this pic was taken? G

An update from us here on Arran regarding our live shows.
We have been producing the live show at 4pm on Sundays for over 5 years. It's time we looked at refreshing the format and adapting to current changes online and on the island itself.
With a regular live audience of between 30 and 50 people, but with a catch-up audience of over 500 to 1500 a week, the live show is becoming less important in its current format. And with our personal lives independently affected by family and other issues, we are keen to look at alternative ways to continue with the WHOA format which doesn't restrict us to being available every Sunday. Additionally, news about things like our ferry service is becoming rather stagnant and, whilst important, it's often hard to be positive over what has, once again, been a hard season on the island.
So. Our plan is to bring you a polished, but recorded production. It will not be as regular as once a week, but hopefully it'll bring news, reviews and some new features in a more positive way, with proper graphics and audio.
---
This will mean several things.
• We don't have to rely on wifi/4G although we can still do live videos when we like
• Facebook will not delete our recorded shows after 30 days (this has become the norm, lately, with live videos
• We can take time out to concentrate on our independent lives and family
• We can produce something that looks and feels better
• We can use other Social Media sites to upload our videos.
• We may be able to encourage more content from guests if they know it's not live.
---
As we have said to our subscribers, WHOA has never been about us, nor about money. We are not 'influencers' and we hate the tag "content creator". It's just a couple of friends summarising what's going on...and we are simply doing something that hasn't been done for Arran before. Our aim is to continue with that. Talking of subscribers, we have now removed the function to pay for additional content. It's not something we need to do in order to function and we have struggled to make it work. So we've cancelled it.
Otherwise, we are here. There will be no further live shows at 4pm on a Sunday UNLESS it just so happens that we've met up somewhere and wish to pop on to say hello to you lot. There WILL be more live shows sporadically and, once every week or two, we'll have something more diverse to watch at your leisure, with proper intros, features and discussion. We apologise to those few dozen who have gotten used to commenting regularly on a Sunday but this is a much easier option for us given our own individual private lives and ongoing family and work commitments.

We regret that we’ll not be on live this afternoon. Individually, we both have some issues we’re dealing with (ferries, and…other stuff) so it’s best we probably concentrate on getting things sorted.
