The Cheshire cat is watching you. 👀
The dahlias are blooming, the lily pads are growing and the statues are looking beautiful amongst the foliage. The garden and creatures have really benefited from such a lovely summer and as one of the gardeners I have the privilege of watching it in all its glory!
Ps. How gorgeous is this dragonfly, rescued from the glasshouse. Cobwebs removed and sent back on his way to the ponds! ☺️

Apple and pear trees need pruning in winter to keep them productive and in good shape. 🍎🍐 Follow these expert steps to ensure you make the right cuts:

1 Mature, medium and large apple trees benefit from having vigorous young shoots cut back and overcrowded branches thinned in winter. Open up the centre of the tree so air can circulate and sun can reach developing fruits in summer.

2 If large branches need removing from a tree do this gradually over several years.

3 Remove any damaged, diseased, dead or crossing limbs.

4. Cutting back vigorous young shoots can encourage productive fruiting spurs to form.

5. Prune freshly planted and young apple and pear trees, so they form a good framework of branches.
