Today was the main reason for our London trip. A visit to the London International horse show. We have been promising ourselves a visit for years. We spent the afternoon going round the shopping village . Seeking a rest, we sort sanctuary in the tattinger champagne bar which our discounted top price tickets gave us access to! We thought 'what the hell we may only come to this this once ' This also gave us access to watch what was going on in the warm up arena. While swigging our champagne I noticed my hero John Whitaker was warming up. His parents owned the local riding school where I was a child and I started off riding at these very stables. At that time he was gaining fame with Ryan's son.
We moved on to the evening show and saw a variety of events from carriage driving, Shetland grand national, Hungary's high school horses and many more including a visit from santa and fabulous SJ competition where my hero was jumping. Unfortunately although clear he got 2 time penalties. I suppose he can be excused being a bit slower at his age🤣🤣🤣. We are now back at our hotel eating a delivered Macdonalds, we know how to rock, totally knacked .

After a very early flight this morning we are here in London for a few days. Day 1 has been a gloriously sunny day so we have walked a huge number of steps taking in the sights, famous buildings, parks and shops It has been extremely busy with a lot of queues even just to get in some shops. We had a rest for a couple of hours on a bus trip to see all the lights. Now just checked into our hotel and chilling.

A morning finishing off the last lot of wreaths and nearly the last lot of table decorations just a few more to do. Then it was off to a friend's to deliver a present and have a coffee. Whilst there the heavens opened and I thought poor horses out in this. It was a relief to find that himself had brought them in and they were in their pj's snug. He does gave his uses and he has been well trained🤣🤣
Next I ticked off an item on my todo list. Ice the cake. Quick and easy no art work here. Looking forward to eating it!
This evening I have been packing for my latest trip with one of the daughters. We are up at 5am tomorrow so time to get ready for bed.

Today was our "works day oot"🤣 First stop was to see the matinee performance of Mama Mia. Great toe tapping show. After all that toe tapping we had worked up an appetite so a stop for food. Then on to do a little shopping and a visit to the Christmas markets. I must admit thd market etc didn't seem as big as previous years. Dont know if this was just my imagination? This was just as well as the heavens opened so we didn't linger long. Now home for warming drink!

Do you remember a few months ago I was busy painting a pine ceiling in a bathroom white. You may not but believe me I remember every brush stroke as I hate painting ceilings! 🤣 Well over the past few months the ceiling, other woodwork and walls were duly painted, new lights fitted, grout whitened etc Just need to get some flooring. Umm the other bathroom needs flooring too. Might as well do it at the same time but might as well paint that first.
Finally today was the day the flooring went down. Don't know what has taken me so long! It would have been nice to have a new bathroom suite as ours is old. I could have got someone in to do it but why? It is old but it is functional and everything works. What we each spend our money on is up to ourselves but we would rather use our skills where we can . By making do and decorating etc ourselves we have saved many ££££ to spend on something else. To find out what the something else is you will have to wait!!!

The day started with some new shoes. This lot not me! I'm lucky if I get some every 6 months they get some set every 6 weeks for an eyewatering amount !
The afternoon included preparing some triangles for a project i am doing at my local craft group tomorrow. That is the joy of a craft group in sharing ideas and getting inspiration from other crafters.
We are now in the interval of a night seeing the Rat Pack's Christmas show at the Caird Hall in Dundee . A very festive occasion, I feel I should have worn a sparkly top!

Good morning to the start of another week! I haven't posted much recently as I am not sure where the days are going to, they just blur one into another with horses, wreath making. Christmas preparations family life and things that life throws at you. . Today horses are all done and a few other jobs and I have just eaten this rather large plateful of pancakes, yoghurt topped with homegrown apples and strawberries. The strawberries were frozen and although the texture changes on defrosting they still taste deliciously of strawberries. I normally drizzle with maple syrup but I have run out so I thought dam it and drizzled with toffee sauce. I am sure i will burn the calories off during thd day! Hope you have had a good start to your Monday!

Another couple of busy days which included a Christmas afternoon tea, a carol concert in which I was actually singing in the choir, a sort of teaching session at my local art club, yoga, horses and in between, wreath making.
Out of 4 advent calendars I am up to date with the 3D picture and the chocolate one but behind with the other two. Yes can you believe it i haven't drunk enough gin🤣🤣. I have also completed only 1 Dorset button and half through a second. Never mind I will get it all done and drunk eventually. I have started my Christmas reading though. Hope you are having a lovely December.

It has been another busy day. Alongside the usual things going on I went down to our local church to give a talk and demonstration on making Christmas decorations from your garden. Still feeling christmassy daughter and I, this evening, put the tree up. I have never had it up this early! Now I am sat here opening my first gin, eating #1 chocolate and have put day 1 together of my 3D calendar. But oops behind already the first Dorset button is not going to get made today. Hope you are enjoying your start to December 😊

Today is the first advent Sunday with the first advent day starting tomorrow. I must admit I love advent calendars. I have had a few different ones over the years but here are this year's.
First up is the a fabric one I made myself which is filled with sweeties. In fact all the family have them and they give me them back every year to fill!
This year i treated myself to a gin advent calender. Not sure if I wil keep up with that one 🤣🤣 I do hope to keep up with the one where you make a 3D picture and also the Dorset button one where you make a different button design every day. Do you like advent calendars and which have you got?

A busy Saturday started with riding and sorting horses followed by pancakes for breakfast. These were topped with blackberries from the freezer and some of our stored apples. More chores then a run along to Aberdour for a few things and a visit to the new wool shop that has just opened. I couldn't resist this very sparkly Christmas wool. Can feel another pair of socks having to be knitted.
