First it was dry so we walked along the river to visit a friend in his canal boat for a coffee and chat. And then the rain came down so we scuttled into the fabulous castle museum. I have fond childhood memories of this museum from when my parents used to take me. The tickets last for a year so we hope to come down again when it is all christmassyfied.
Next stop was our favourite Italian restaurant here for a very late lunch. Yummy! Now we are drying out and chilling before another reunion event. At least the rain seems to have eased off a bit.

We are in another historic city today. We arrived in the historic city of York just before lunch. We parked the car at the hotel and walked for 10 mins through the city gate. The signs were good🤣🤣 and we managed to get lunch of chicken burger, chips and a wine for me and beer for himself for £15 in total. We decided to have a mouch around, it was quite busy and a very hot 27+c so after a while we took ourselves off for a quiet walk by the river.
Back to the hotel for dinner and then off to our first navy reunion, 2nd one tomorrow. I'd best leave it there as things could get messy🤣🤣🤣

We are on our travels. We were meant to be going to crook gardens in Durham but today it was closing early! Typical the day we were meant to be going we couldn't. Lucky we checked the website. SO instead we veered off the A1 and took the coastal and castle route of Northumberland . We passed through Bamburgh and just passed there stopped to eat our picnic lunch on the edge of the sand dunes. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves. It would have been easy to lay back and fall asleep in the sun listening to the skylarks but after admiring the harebells we made a move.
Onwards , sweeping past Dunstanburgh castle to Warkworth castle where we stopped and had a wander round using our historic Scotland cards. After a tub of local ice cream we moved on and are now staying with family for the night.

After a very hot day yesterday my part of Scotland has remembered itself and decided to rain all day so far! So some indoor jobs done and I am now enjoying a blast of raspberries in the form of scones and jam😋

On one of the hottest days of the year the first of our seasoned winter logs arrived. And yes it is just dumped and we have to move it to the log store. Let's say we have made a start on that task and will finish it when it is a tad cooler. However it is pleasing to know that some of our winter fuel is here and paid for.

A lovely evening having a training session at trec despite the absolutely horrendous flies. Here we were captured doing one of the obstacles, cantering along a narrow corridor.
I am just finishing the day with a cup of tea and a homemade scone with homemade raspberry jam and cream.😋 Loving these summer days except for those pesky flying demons!

The other day I learnt how to make this concertina style book at a craft group I go to and just managed to finish it today. It has a clever construction and the pictures swivel. I am calling the theme oriental garden but I have no idea what I am going to do with it🤔 It was a fun project though.

We have just had a grand evening out doing a bit of stressage. A much better test than last time out so progress indeed. Onwards and upwards as they would say.

It is the season of raspberries both red and golden. The red are much bigger but the golden are little bursts of flavour. Both very enjoyable ☺️ I think I will need to get the jam on out!

A non Christmas post.🤣 Had a look at how my quilt hexies are coming along . I need a few more but quite pleased with it so far. It is made from all fabric scraps from my own stash from previous projects and some of my hand dyed fabric and donations from friends. The ‘garden path ‘ is an unused Irish cotton sheet also donated from a friend.
