One of the most frustrating situations is when someone comes to us asking for something that will not achieve the result they actually want.

They say they want an explainer video.

We ask, "Why?"

They say, "So people know what we do and then buy from us."

So the real objective is sales. Clear.

We then ask, "Where will this video live?"

Silence.

So we look at their online presence together. The website. The LinkedIn profile. The YouTube channel.

They usually say something like, "Well yes, the website is a bit of a mess and we do not really use YouTube, but we do not need to fix that right now. We just need the video."

Yet they still expect this one video to drive sales.

If your digital shop window looks like an afterthought, do you genuinely believe one animated clip will make people rush to buy from you

But because someone up the chain said, "Get a video," that is all they can see. They ignore the strategy. They ignore the evidence. They ignore the fact that businesses we have worked with have already achieved the exact outcome they want through a complete approach.

They go elsewhere. They get the video. They feel pleased.

Six months later, we ask, "So, did it work?"

The answer, "No."

Our job is not to nod and produce whatever is asked for. Our job is to guide you to the outcome you are actually trying to reach, even if that means telling you the thing you asked for is not the solution.
