Manx Electric Railway car numbers 20 and 21 pause for photos on King Edward Road outside Onchan, during a parallel run operation between Derby Castle and Laxey. 31/07/2024

These events are run for a week in summer, where both tramcars run alongside each other on a cleared section of line. Once at Laxey, the car on the opposing line simply changes ends, turns the trolleypole and returns to Derby Castle as a regular timetabled short working. The other car continues to the northernmost terminus at Ramsey.

Created with Canon EOS 6DMkI/EF 28-300mm L IS USM. Touchup in Affinity Photo 2.

Until things change/become clearer upon this situation, CJSutcliffe Photography will not be covering any events/movements/services at East Lancashire Railway. It is an extremely disappointing step to take, and one I hope will be resolved in the future.

-Chris.

Hats off to the East Lancashire Railway. Not only did they have the wisdom to deploy women on the footplate, they also had the outright decency to defend itself and who it decides are its most valued members and volunteers, when another volunteer makes complaint and further comment regarding their work ethic. Despite their findings being apparently "inconclusive", the volunteer in question is then effectively sacked from their position on the railway, depriving another on site organisation of their services in the same action.

Here, former volunteer Joanne Crompton is seen in conversation with onlookers/fellow train crew/volunteers in platform 4 at Bury Bolton St station, during a break between freight duties. Fireman Steph Elwood was tending to the fire at this moment.

LMS Class 5XP (BR Class 5P/6F) 4.6.0 number 45596 "Bahamas" raises her train from Keighley up the steep Keighley bank, working a service from Keighley to Oxenhope during the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Spring Steam Event - 12 March 2022.

This image is dedicated to the memory of Jordan Mossom. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this incredibly tragic and delicate time.

Happy everybody! Here’s one from the archives!

As Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers is laid to rest today, it seems only fitting that I should dedicate this photo to his memory.

Drummer (Private) Lee Rigby, 1988 - 2013.

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning.
We will remember them."

The driving wheel, one of 6 equipped to 44871, an ex-LMS 5MT 4.6.0 mixed traffic locomotive.

Dedicated to the memory of Christopher Jones. 1993 - 2020. Taken far too soon, may your signals remain clear and your running be spirited for evermore. Rest easy, 'til we meet again.
