Developer plans 60,000 sq ft High Wycombe industrial scheme - ready for occupation in H2 2026 🏢🏗

Jansons Property has exchanged contracts to purchase and develop a new freehold industrial scheme in High Wycombe totalling 60,000 sq ft.

Wycombe Works will comprise small units ranging from 2,000 to 6,000 sq ft, with the developer particularly hoping to attract occupiers driven out of West London by rising rents.

Each unit will benefit from nine-metre clear internal height, 4.5-metre-high loading doors, floor loading capacity of 37.5kN per sq m, one level access door, dedicated car parking, EV charging points and solar panels.

Another record month as Heathrow Airport welcomes 7.9 million passengers in July ✈📈

Heathrow has again broken traffic records as 7.9 million passengers passed through the airport in July, marking its busiest month ever.

As well as Europe's largest airport, it also remained the continent's most punctual major hub for a seventh consecutive month – ahead of Frankfurt, Madrid, Amsterdam and Paris.

July saw a number of other firsts for Heathrow – clothing brand lululemon opened its first-ever European airport store in Terminal 5, while Marks & Spencer launched its first airside location in Terminal 5 and 5B.

Jobs continue to fall rapidly in South East as pay slows - “right to cut interest rates” say KPMG UK and Recruitment & Employment Confederation 💼🤔

Recruitment activity across the South of England continued to fall in July amid weak business confidence and concerns over costs, according to KPMG and REC.

The UK Report on Jobs found that the number of people in permanent jobs across the region fell rapidly in July for the 28th month in a row, despite slowing since June, while temporary roles fell at a softer but solid pace.

Tight recruitment budgets and weak demand for workers have also muted pay, with starting salaries rising only slightly and temp wages falling for the first time since January.

New operator chosen for Solent Airport, Daedalus - a pioneer in electric aviation ✈⚡

Fareham Borough Council has announced a new operator for Solent Airport at Daedalus, set to take over next April.

With the expiry of the lease held by Regional & City Airports, the council has chosen a successor in the newly established EGHF, whose director Matt Wilkins has run Old Buckenham Licensed Airfield in Norfolk since 2011.

Like Solent Airport, Old Buckenham also served as an RAF base during World War II.

Under Wilkins' tenure, the airfield became the first aerodrome to advertise a price for electric aircraft charging alongside traditional aviation fuel, and it hosts the UK's first public electric aircraft charger – powered exclusively by solar.

Oxford Nanopore Technologies pioneer to step down after 21 years in top job 🥼👋

The chief executive and co-founder of FTSE 250 firm Oxford Nanopore is to step down from his role after 21 years leading his ground-breaking molecular sensing technology business.

Gordon Sanghera has said he wishes to relinquish his role by the end of next year.

Sanghera co-founded Oxford Nanopore in 2005 alongside Dr Spike Willcocks and Professor Hagan Bayley as a University of Oxford spin-out to develop an electronic, single-molecule sensing system based on nanopore science. The first product, MinION, the world's first portable sequencing device, was launched commercially in 2015 and the company now designs and manufactures a range of sensing systems for wide ranging analysis.
