Dr Rachel Morris 📌 Speaker & Former GP
🎙️ Host of You Are Not a Frog Podcast
🐸 Helping healthcare professionals escape the guilt of never doing enough Hi! I’d love to help.

I’m Rachel - founder of Wild Monday and podcast host of You Are Not a Frog 👋

As a former GP, I know what it’s like to feel buried under an impossible workload, stretched too thin, and constantly worried you’re not doing enough. I’ve been there, and I know how isolating it can feel. But it doesn’t have to be that way. I spent over a decade teaching and mentoring at the University of Cambridge, whe

re I was the Assistant Director for GP Studies and developed their Professionalism Course. And over the last 9 years I’ve led resilience and wellbeing training with thousands of doctors and other health and social care professionals both online, live and face to face for Primary Care Training Hubs, NHS Acute Trusts, ICSs, NHS England / Health Education England, Community Health Trusts, Mental Health Trusts and Doctors in Training. My experiences both as a GP and working with frontline staff led me to create the Shapes Toolkit® - a simple, practical system designed for professionals in high-pressure roles to help you regain control, manage your workload, and protect your well-being. Our courses and programmes include:

✅ Beat Stress and Thrive – A practical course to help you manage stress and workload.
✅ Get Your Life Back – A 60-minute guide to setting boundaries and reclaiming time for what matters most.
✅ Shapes Academy – A membership for leaders and managers diving into productivity tools, coaching models and stress management.
✅ Work Well Programme – A complete organisational wellbeing programme, including tailored support for wellbeing leads. Then there’s the You Are Not A Frog podcast - a place where I share real stories and practical tools to help you navigate the pressures of high-stakes work. Because you’re not alone, and there’s always a way forward. If you’re ready to stop just surviving and start thriving, let’s connect.

Are you running an “invisible marathon” every day?

For neurodivergent colleagues, it has a name: the Neurodivergence Tax.

It’s exhausting. It’s unsustainable. And it’s one of the drivers of burnout.

In case you missed it, I’m running a free webinar on Mon 15th Sept (7pm UK): ✨ How to Beat Burnout in Healthcare ✨ with extra time at the end to talk about neurodivergence and designing work that works for every brain.

The “keep calm and carry on” culture in the NHS? It’s like walking blindfolded towards a cliff edge.

This week on You Are Not a Frog, I’m joined by Dr Richard Duggins — a Consultant Medical Psychotherapist with a deep understanding of the culture that drives burnout in healthcare.

Richard talks about the “keep calm and carry on” mentality many of us have grown up with in medicine. On the surface it looks admirable — but in reality, it can lead us to neglect everything outside of work, become isolated, and slowly drift towards burnout.

🐸 Out now wherever you get your podcasts!

What do you think? Does “carrying on” help us… or hurt us in the long run? Let me know in the comments!

🚨 Neurodivergent doctors: are you paying an invisible tax every day?

That invisible load—planning, prioritizing, masking, keeping up—is what I call the neurodivergent tax. And yep, it can push you straight toward burnout, even if you’re doing “all the right things.”

In the final video of my Truth About Burnout in Healthcare series, I share:
👉 Why neurodivergent docs are at higher risk
👉How to spot the invisible tax
👉 Practical ways to protect your energy, set boundaries, and stay in your performance zone

Out now! Link in my bio.

🚨 If rest really fixed burnout, doctors wouldn’t keep burning out.

Yes, taking time off helps you recover. But if nothing changes in how you work, the moment you return to the same pressures, expectations, and workload—you slide straight back down the burnout curve.

That’s why so many doctors feel stuck in the cycle:
➡️ Rest ➡️ Return ➡️ Burnout (again).

In the next video of my Truth About Burnout in Healthcare series, I’ll cover:
Why rest alone won’t solve burnout
The mindset shifts doctors must make in 2025 to break the cycle
How to move from rest ➕ relapse… to rest ➕ lasting change

The system won’t change overnight—but there are shifts you can make right now to protect your energy and stop the cycle from repeating.

When I asked for help with stress, I was told: “Take time off.”

But stress, overwhelm and burnout aren’t the same thing—and time off isn’t always the answer.

That’s what I’m unpacking in the second video of my new series The Truth About Burnout in Healthcare: why doctors get the WRONG advice about burnout.

🎥 It’s up on YouTube now (link in bio) + there’s a free self-assessment toolkit to help you work out what you really need.

If you're tired of trying to get more done in less time, this is for you 👇

When you're constantly pulled into urgent demands (and let’s be honest, in healthcare, everything feels urgent), it’s easy to lose sight of the important stuff that fuels you and moves you forward.

That’s exactly what we tackle in Escape the Urgency Trap. If you missed the live masterclass, the replay + workbook is now available!

📌 Learn the exact technique I use (and teach) to help you prioritise powerfully, get out of firefighting mode, and carve out more time for the work — and life — you actually enjoy.

I once sat in a meeting feeling totally overwhelmed.

Deadlines, pressure, people snapping… and yet one of my colleagues? Calm as anything. Just fine.

And I remember thinking—how are they not losing it right now?

In this week’s You Are Not a Frog episode, I chat with Dr Giles P Croft, who shared something that really stuck with me:
👉 Stress doesn’t come from the situation.
It comes from what we think about the situation.

🐸 New episode is out now on the podcast: Why you’re stressed when everyone else is calm.

As a doctor, sleep can feel like a myth.

You finally close your eyes and…
📟 Beep.
📲 Ping.
🧠 Brain won’t switch off.

So you reach for something to help you knock out - but that’s not real rest.

This week on the podcast, Dr Steve Smith explains what good sleep actually looks like — and how to get more of it.
