The University of Cambridge has confirmed it is ‘looking into’ the behaviour of divinity professor, James Orr.

This follows Orr’s resignation from his position as Reform UK’s Head of Policy, after footage from Channel 4 News and Verbatim showed him discussing how to accept £30k worth of polling funding.

Cambridge’s Homerton College has issued a statement in support of its master, Lord Simon Woolley.

This comes after an article in The Spectator argued Lord Woolley is “not fit to lead a Cambridge college.”

In an interview with Al Jazeera, an academic who accused Jason Arday of plagiarism has addressed whether he feels responsible for the academic’s death.

Nathan Cofnas, a former Cambridge professor and self-defined ‘race realist’, said he had ‘zero interest’ in Arday, claiming his accusations were all about ‘DEI and Cambridge’.

Jason Arday became Cambridge University’s youngest black professor in 2023. After facing plagiarism accusations that led to a row lasting for weeks, Arday was found dead on 14th August.

Arday had previously said the controversy about his work had led to an ‘unrelenting level of public scrutiny and personal attack.’

A former Cambridge academic, who accused Jason Arday of plagiarism, has been suspended by Ghent Universiy.

Nathan Cofnas, a self-defined ‘race realist’, said he was under investigation by the Belgian University ‘for discriminating against Arday.’

Cofnas was among those to accuse Jason Arday, who became Cambridge’s youngest black professor in 2023, of plagiarism. This led to a row that lasted for weeks before Arday’s death on 14th August.
