An ITV News video report by Emma Murphy is a perfect illustration of the British media's slouch towards anti-Israel advocacy, instead of professional journalism, when covering the war between Israel and Hamas.

The BBC began to adopt the politicised terminology “Al Aqsa Mosque compound” – or even just “Al Aqsa Mosque” – to describe the area that its style guide says should be referred to as Temple Mount and Haram al-Sharif immediately after the November 2014 publication of a PLO ‘media advisory’.

On the afternoon of August 3rd the BBC News website published a report headlined “Israeli minister sparks anger by praying at sensitive Jerusalem holy site”

In the 13 days between July 19th – the day that Hamas put out its call to denounce “Israel’s policy of starvation and genocide” – and July 31st, the BBC News website published 47 items relating to the topics of humanitarian aid, food distribution and allegations of starvation, malnutrition or famine.

In a recent article at the J**S, Major (res) Avi Tal wrote about ‘The Gaza “Starvation” Campaign: An Organized Effort to Discredit Israel’. “A coordi

"Protecting yourself, your family, your community and your nation from harm should never be misconstrued as in any way inconsistent with the highest Jewish ethical aspirations — an idea the broader Jewish community would be wise to take seriously while lamenting the suffering of so many throughout our history on Tisha B’Av."

This post was first published at Times of Israel in 2017 by this writer, and is being republished here by permission. Today is Tisha B’Av, a Jewish day of

The BBC's response to a complaint claims that if an NGO describes itself as ‘defending human rights’, that can be taken at face value.

Within an hour of the announcement of aid airdrops to the Gaza Strip , the BBC had decided that such operations are “problematic”.

On the afternoon of July 25th COGAT announced the resumption of airdrops of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Within minutes the following entries appear

BBC defended (and refused to correct) David Gritten's framing as a fact, the completely unsubstantiated claim that "settlers set fields ablaze close to a fifth-Century church".

Last week we noted that on July 12th, the BBC News website published a report by David Gritten in which readers were told that “On Monday, settlers set fields

BBC defends its description of Georges Abdallah, a Lebanese terrorist convicted in 1987 for the murders in France of two diplomats – one American, one Israeli – as a "pro-Palestinian convict".

On July 25th the BBC promoted a report by its Paris correspondent Hugh Schofield: Readers of Schofield’s article – headlined “Pro-Palestinian convi

Obviously, children with existing disorders are more likely to be adversely affected by food insecurity. But the BBC simply states that Mohammed “suffers from malnutrition due to famine”, without providing any explanation of his underlying medical condition.

Instead – not for the first time – the BBC has manipulatively used context-free images of a disabled child to promote its own chosen narrative of starvation and famine in the Gaza Strip.

That is not journalism; it is propaganda.

Yesterday we documented the BBC’s use of a photograph of a child – then in the Gaza Strip – with an undisclosed underlying genetic medical condition in or

BBC omits that an emaciated child, Osama al-Raqab, whose photograph was used in multiple articles to illustrate stories on accusations of starvation in the territory, suffers from the genetic disorder cystic fibrosis, which affects the digestive system.

They also failed to note that, since the photo was taken two months ago, Osama's condition had improved significantly.

On July 23rd the BBC News website published a report by David Gritten which was originally headlined “More than 100 humanitarian groups warn of mass starvatio

The revelation that the BBC’s CEO of News thinks that there is a “difference” between wings of the same terror org (despite her own government having clarified nearly four years ago that no such difference exists) does nothing to persuade the BBC’s funding public that the corporation’s management takes Peter Johnston’s findings “very seriously”.

On July 14th the BBC published the findings of its internal review into the documentary ‘Gaza: How to Survive a War Zone’ which it had de-platformed in Febr

Clearly, BBC journalist David Gritten did not bother to carry out even basic fact-checking or verification before telling audiences around the world that “settlers set fields ablaze” - a claim which has been disputed by Israeli Police.

CAMERA UK has submitted a complaint requesting a correction.

A report by David Gritten which was published on the BBC News website on July 12th includes the following paragraphs: [emphasis added] “Separately, the US em
