Cambridge TV Training Cambridge TV Training is a unique experience. You'll make programmes for broadcast and learn on the What makes us different? We are highly selective.

The Cambridge TV School provides a radically different approach to learning the TV, video, and broadcast industries. We use recognised industry practices and experts to deliver tuition. Our students generate and broadcast material from their first week until their final assessment. We believe that the students learn by doing the job for real, working under the pressure of schedule deadlines, knowi

ng that their work will be judged not just by tutors and peers, but by the public. The school works closely with Cambridge TV, the recently franchised local TV station, and we have created an exciting and driven atmosphere more like a busy production house than a university department. Working in teams and with the strong support of professionals, students create programmes and broadcast them both locally and globally via our online services, every day. We don’t just recreate the norms of the current industry. Cambridge TV School sets itself at the forefront of changing technology and regulations, welcoming new ideas, innovative approaches and encouraging students to become video entrepreneurs. Our courses ensure that students gain the skills & knowhow needed to increase employability and career progression. Our students are qualified by experience and build up a personal bank of broadcast material demonstrating their competence. At graduation, they are work-ready, tempered by the demands of a real weekly schedule, a commercial environment and a critical audience. Cambridge TV School won’t suit every media student. Our learning environment appeals to those who are massively creative, highly driven, and willing to accelerate to the top of their game. Cambridge TV School welcomes students who prove they are innovative, resourceful and distinctive. They will be sufficiently flexible and modest enough to recognise that teamwork is key in the sector, and to allow others to also enjoy success. Its about gaining a rounded understanding of the industry, not just in a specialist area. Our students must enjoy the challenging atmosphere of an energetic and creative group who are constantly pushing boundaries, but also hitting regular schedules. We expect exceptional production, detail and content. Cambridge TV School is not an environment for mediocrity – we inspire people to become simply the best new entrants in the industry. With the unique resources of Cambridge University and Anglia Ruskin University on our doorstep and leading global technology and scientific companies situated among innumerable cultural gems and heritage sites, we have a huge opportunity to tell thousands of exciting stories and make leading edge thinking accessible to multiple audiences. The TV School thrives on Cambridge’s natural buzz which infects and excites all we do.

A new holiday course for students. Typically 14-24. Learn professional video production skills, and make your own video for YouTube etc.

We’re running a short 5-day course for those who are fascinated by video and want to improve their skills.

Each day we will focus on a different aspect of video production e.g. camera training, audio workshops, video editing sessions. Through this, your skillset will broaden every day to cover all the main aspects of production that you will need to create videos. In the mornings we have practical workshops and then we practice our skills in the afternoon by filming something interesting! By the end of the course, we will have filmed and edited a video together with the potential to be broadcast on local TV and online. The video material can be used for CVs and showreels for future employers. Working as a crew with professional guidance, there is then the opportunity to make your own video from the combined footage.
The course is hosted in the Sports Centre at Bottisham Village College and is open to anyone from about 14 upwards. A reasonable level of English language skills are needed if it's not your native tongue but otherwise no requirements are needed except a passion for making videos!

In the course will cover:
Location camera and sound. Including filming in/under water
Specialist underwater techniques
Programme design & Studio production
Lighting
Presenting and interviewing
Directing
Basic editing
Safety and wellbeing
