We have 3No fully air conditioned studio/rehearsal spaces suitable for an average sized 5-6 piece band, located in a semi rural location on the outskirts of Canterbury. Each room is equipped with a powerful PA system and a full back line permanently in-situ, everything is ready to just plug in, switch on and play – reducing wasted time unloading a car full of gear before you can even start. The b

ack line includes a Pearl Export drum kit, various guitar amps and bass amp/combos all permanently connected. Loose leads are also run ready for connecting in an additional guitar amps, keyboards etc in fact we can cater for pretty much anything.

2 of the rehearsal rooms also includes a smart TV connected to the internet for rehearsing to backing tracks, researching via YouTube etc, for finding lyrics and displaying them on something big enough to read !! We have plenty of XLR leads, multiple mic and music stands available for your ease of use. We have a small kitchen with tea and coffee provided with an honesty pot. Rates

There is a minimum booking of 4hrs (generally 6-10pm on a week night), the subsequent hourly rate is £10, please note that any cancellations received less than 72 hours before your slot will (unless agreed otherwise under extenuating circumstances) incur a cancellation fee

Bank Holidays are available by prior arrangement for £15 per hour, also with a minimum of 4 hours. We can record your rehearsal session and provide you with a disk/emailed stem files per band member – we can also edit, mix or modify the recording for an additional fee. Recording sessions are available upon requests with several service levels available. Some bands have a preference to have their material mixed by a friend or someone they have used before, that’s not a problem we can provide the stem files for editing and producing elsewhere. We also offer a full suite of services including in house editing and production – the costs depend upon on the level of service you require. We offer a range of other services including digital desk setup, sound engineering (either with you own pa or including hours of ours), PAT testing, assistance setting up Helix, Kemper, Neural Quad Cortex etc

So what am I doing? Why am I here? .. That’s the eternal question right? But I’m not going to answer the meaning of life for you here (I’ll save that for another post!) - Instead I am going to narrow my view down just a touch and focus on little ol’ me.

WHO AM I?

Hi .. I’m Matt .. I have worked within the design industry for 30 years; In that time I have been a freelancer, a sub-contractor for multiple agencies, and I’ve held full-time roles as Senior Designer and Project Manager at successful web and publishing agencies.

I have designed everything from small one-off logos, stationery and leaflets, to complete websites for individuals and large-scale national corporations.

And now, after 20 years, I have decided to jump back into the realm of freelance design; I’m not certain that this is the right decision, I’m not even sure that this will work - it’s a loaded marketplace these days - and don’t even get me started on AI (I’ll save that for another post!). But here I am.

I’m going to add posts outlining my return to this path and let you know what I’m up to. I don’t know if this is the correct way to utilise social media nowadays - a lot of the posts I see are less personal and more worthy of inclusion in high-end design magazines - they’re great, but that’s not me.

So you won’t find magazine-worthy, full editorial pieces here; posts about my views on the current state of the design industry, or the problems with the hiring algorithm, oh no - What you will get is just plain speaking, honest posts about me and my work. I’m a one-man-band after all, a freelancer - let’s just keep it simple and friendly.

Now the dust has settled on this years Faversham Hopfestival - it's time for an appreciation post!

We were absolutely honoured to be small part of this years amazing team at The Quay for what was an outstanding effort by everyone concerned - the work that goes into the weekend is immense.

Big props to our great mates dB Rising Audio Engineering and Acoustics who knocked it out of the park all weekend on sound engineering duties and dealt with everything the weather threw at them - gentlemen, absolutely brilliant work👏

We’ve come up with a cool rental solution featuring these Washburn Sonamaster electric guitars. For £10/week you can hire these guitars and trial them to see if your child (or yourself!) want to take it seriously. What’s more, if you decided to keep the guitar, the cost of rental will be deducted from the original price of the guitar and it’s yours (or your child’s) to keep!

Although this system begins with these electric guitars, we can also offer acoustic and bass guitars under the same scheme so come in and talk to us about your needs and let’s see what we can do for you.

Our Story

We have 3 fully air conditioned studio/rehearsal spaces. Studio 1 is suitable for an average sized 5-6 piece band (although we have had a 9 piece in there), studio 2 is better suited for a band of 4 (although we have had a 6 piece in there) and our newly finished studio 3 is best suited to a 4/5 piece band located in a semi rural location on the outskirts of Canterbury. All rooms are equipped with a Pearl Export drum kit, powerful PA system with a multi-channel mixing desk, bass amp, guitar amps and you can park right outside the door, so you can just rock up, walk in, plug in and play

Studios 1 and 2 include a smart TV connected to the internet for researching those elusive chords and lyrics etc via YouTube displaying them on something big enough to read!! We have plenty of XLR leads, multiple mic and music stands, DI boxes and all the usual stuff you would expect (and probably a few you might not) available for your ease of use. We have a small kitchen with tea, coffee and soft drinks provided with an honesty pot. Rates Evening rehearsal slots are a fixed £40 fee, with the rooms being available from 6-10pm Bank Holidays are available by prior arrangement for £15 per hour, with a minimum of 3 hours.

Recording rates depend on the type of recording required, the number of channels etc

Studio Recording We have a full suite of recording facilities ranging from a simple stereo recording of your rehearsal session, right through to full multi track recording up to 40 channels.
