Have you ever worked with the Awen? πŸ‘‡πŸ»

There is so much more to this word, this force, but let's start with the very basics.

It is from the Awen that all inspiration is channeled, and when you truly tap into it, you are tapping into the divine.

Most people learn about this force within Welsh Mythology, especially in the tail of Taliesin & Cerridwen. In this tale, Taliesin consumes three drops of Awen accidentally, from a potion created by Cerridwen- who is often considered in the modern day to be a 'goddess of inspiration'.

In the modern day, creatives of all kinds work with and channel the Awen in their work, in their process. The divine inspiration is something of great power- channeled straight from Annwfn-, the Welsh Otherworld.

We can all work with the Awen, we can all harness it. Have you ever worked with it yourself?

Held by a giant ash tree and the stars I love so dearly in a field in Avalon πŸͺ¨πŸŒ€

I'm just reintegrating myself into normal life after a magical weekend spent in sisterhood with a group of incredible warrior women. Old bonds were strengthened and new friends and connections were made, with the Tor watching over us.

Voices of Annwfn finally came to life this weekend. This idea has been brewing since I was in North Wales last year. I distinctly remember sitting down at that retreat in 2025 and writing down the concept in my journal, determined to bring a singing circle to life that was all about channeling the Awen from Annwfn itself. And this weekend, it finally happened. And it was almost, despite my nerves, effortless. I am so grateful. I couldn't stop smiling.

This was actually my very first in person workshop. In person stuff is something I have wanted to do for years, but never had the opportunity before this weekend. I can't wait to fall into in person stuff more and bring Voices of Annwfn to even more gatherings and events in the future. This workshop/circle is all about coming together and channelling pure divine inspiration, with each iteration different from the last. I'm so excited to watch the different iterations unfold with different groups of people. And what a fantastic start this was.

In the Avalon bubble, visions came to life. Sisterhood was cemented into every fibre of my being. Stars were gazed upon and Awen was flowing.

To be a part of a group who are bringing the magic of Cymru to life in a modern setting is such a god damn honour. It makes my heart sing.

I'm still not fully ready to come back to the online space yet, and do you know what? I'm glad. I feel inspired and uplifted.

Awen is always flowing πŸŒ€

The Fae aren't evil πŸ‘‡πŸ»

They just aren't confined to mortal rules.

We as humans though are DEFINITELY confined to mortal rules.

While there are certain fae across British folklore who are more malevolent in nature (look at the Gwillyion in Welsh Folklore!), more often than not, they are just pulling pranks and doing things that they don't consider to be deadly- because they aren't deadly to them.

This is why it's so important to be mindful when working with the Fae in your magical/spiritual practice. It's not that you can't or shouldn't be working with the Fae, it's more you should be aware that they don't think in the same way we do.

And why would they? They can travel between worlds, have physical magic they can wield, and they aren't mortal. Sometimes when they pull pranks on us or whisk us away for 100 years into other worlds, they don't understand or even see the consequences they will have on us.

So no- fairies aren't evil, but they definitely have a different way of looking at life and the world!

Cerridwen's Cauldron isn't the only one πŸ‘‡πŸ»

In Welsh mythology and folklore, there are quite a few examples of magical cauldrons, and the Pair Dadeni is another famous example.

Also known as the Cauldron of Rebirth, the Pair Dadeni has the ability to resurrect those who are placed inside, but once resurrected, they cannot speak.

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 This cauldron was the inspiration behind the 80s Disney film The Black Cauldron, which in turn was based on the book series The Chronicles of Prydian by Lloyd Alexander. I also think Sarah J Mass took some inspiration from Welsh Mythology for the Cauldron in A Court of Thorns & Roses.

Cymru is full of magic, and the cauldron is one of the most powerful objects found throughout our history and lore.

There is power in the place πŸ‘‡πŸ»

And your local land is the most powerful simply because it's where you will spend most of your time.

Forming a relationship and understanding with the Genius Loci, spirit of the place & land will amplify your whole practice beyond your wildest dreams. It's when we have true respect and love for our local land and the spirits that dwell there that we have a deeper appreciation for all lands.

🌎 It's so important to love your home. Whether it's urban, temporary, and even somewhere you aren't super fond of. When you take the time to form the relationship, that is when you start to see where you live in a whole new light.

Connecting to the spirit of the place and land doesn't have to be complicated either. Sure, it requires a bit of work, but all the best things do and you won't regret the time and effort you put in.

The time and effort you put in will reflect positively on your whole witchcraft or spiritual practice.

It's fine to feel a connection to places further afield, but everything starts with a connection to home. And it all starts with examples in this list.

πŸ’¬ How do you connect to your local land and the spirits of the place? Drop some ideas in the comments to help inspire other witches who may be struggling πŸ™πŸΌ

πŸ’¦ Taff Love Fest 27/06.

What a lovely warm day celebrating the Afon Taf with these amazing souls πŸ–€ we got together in the Taff Talks segment of the day festival to tell stories, talk about the ecology and bring some spirituality to the day.

I was lucky enough to be able to share some tidbits about the folklore of the Afon Taf and share the stage with some other lovely members of the Taff Crew I've been fortunate enough to have been connected with over the last few weeks. Our shared love for the Taff has brought us together and it's been such a blessing! I was honoured to share the stage and spend the afternoon with you guys and can't wait to see what we all do next! πŸŒ€

Taff Love Festival 27/06 πŸŒžπŸ’¦

I had the opportunity to share a little bit about some of the folklore about the Afon Taf on a warm summer's day.

Had a lovely afternoon yesterday, coming together with some wonderful people to shine a light on the Afon Taf (river taff) from a scientific and spiritual perspective that we all love. Our shared love for this river has recently brought us all together, and I love this alliance and friendship that we have formed πŸ–€

I can't wait to see what we all do next!
