Action for Freelancers (AfF) is now on Instagram!

If you’re not familiar with AfF, it’s a pan-industry collaboration supporting freelancers across the UK television industry. AfF brings together broadcasters, producers, trade bodies, industry organisations and freelancers in response to growing concerns around wellbeing in TV and film.

Taking a holistic approach, AfF builds on existing work to avoid duplication, pools resources, and focuses on delivering practical, tangible actions to better support the freelance workforce.

The Rough Assembly - Bectu are excited to launch the UK wide Bectu Mentorship Programme, supporting mid-level career progression across editorial.

We are now seeking mentees for the Bectu Mentoring Scheme, running February to May 2026.

This programme is ideal for:
- 2nd Assistant Editors looking to progress to 1st Assistant Editor
- 1st Assistant Editors preparing to move into Editor roles
- Assistant Editors in unscripted who are ready to take the next step toward Editor
- Participants will gain access to:
- One-to-one mentoring with experienced post-production professionals
- Workshops and networking opportunities
- Tailored guidance to support your career development
- Open to Post-Production & Facilities Branch member with 2+ years’ experience or 3+ industry credits.

They are also seeking mentors with 5+ years of post-production experience to help guide the next generation of talent.

The purpose is to champion & safeguard our skilled and valuable freelance workforce via six workstreams: Working Conditions, Recruitment, Skills Training & Professional Development, Mental Health, Communication Information & Engagement and Policy.
