Caroline Bryan died after being diagnosed with mesothelioma, an incurable cancer which her daughter says was the result of exposure to asbestos at the school she taught at.

They blame Cardiff Council, which ran the school, for her death and are taking legal action. Cardiff Council says it would be inappropriate to comment on legal proceedings in progress.

Country music icon Dolly Parton has died aged 80, her family has announced.

Her team said Dolly would be remembered for her “timeless music and prolific songwriting”, as well as the “wit, warmth and kindness that made us all feel like family”.

The US superstar reportedly had Welsh ancestry, which she spoke about during a concert in Cardiff in 2008.

A man has pleaded guilty to filming beneath a young girl's skirt in a shopping centre before running off and later being tracked down on CCTV.

Alex Allegretto, 39, admitted the offence of operating a mobile phone beneath the clothing of another person for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification.

Police were called to St David's 2 shopping centre on the morning of 7 July after a mother reported Allegretto, who was unknown to them, for 'upskirting' her daughter.

He was caught on CCTV heading back to his car and was later arrested for voyeurism at his home in Maesteg, in Bridgend county.

Allegretto must be registered with the police in accordance with the Sexual Offences Act 2003 for five years, the court heard.

Two osprey chicks have been born on Anglesey for the first time, according to conservationists.

The baby birds were hatched earlier this summer, and have since successfully left the nest, with hopes they may return.

Friends of the Ospreys, the conservation group who monitor the private site, said they were "over the moon" at the news, and hoped it pointed to a bright future for the species on the island.

The adult ospreys responsible for these chicks are one of about 300 breeding pairs in the UK, with about 20 in Wales.

A search operation for a man who may have gone overboard during a ferry sailing has been stood down.

HM Coastguard said it was first alerted at 09:15 BST on Monday that a man was believed to have gone missing during the overnight passenger vessel crossing from Dublin to Holyhead, on Anglesey.

A multi-agency search was launched, involving RNLI lifeboats from Holyhead, Porthdinllaen and Howth as well as an Irish Coast Guard helicopter.
