It’ll be no surprise to regular visitors to the store that Brassneck has a love for Japanese punk bands. I’ve been stocking Japanese releases since 2010 and there’s finally a specific ‘Japanese punk’ section in the store to access these releases in one place.

Plus, there’s a bunch more records that have just been added to that category for you to check out. There’s traditionally very little digital music presence for these releases, so there’s an element of risk involved just like when we used to discover bands from thanks lists and flyers back in the old days. But that was always half of the excitement right? Take my word for it, the melodic punk underground in Japan is still delivering the goods. This is what’s new, but there’s plenty more besides.

1000 TRAVELS OF JAWAHARLAL / MINORITY BLUES BAND – Split LP
the Floppy-Pinkies – Bet It 10” (red)
THE GIMMIES – Lost Last Recordings 7”
GLEAM GARDEN / The Tim Version – Split 7”
Stupid Plots – Should And Want EP 7” + Fanzine
THREE MINUTE MOVIE – I Know Because 7”
THREE MINUTE MOVIE / LITTERS – Split 7”
What-A-Night's – With The Neon Rats LP
WITHOUT – Mind Haze 7”

Additionally, Japanese import CDs from the Down And Outs, The Dahlmanns, THE GTO’s & WEAK have just been added alongside the existing stock, so CD fans, please take note.

Yes, I know there are a lot of records coming out right now. Things will slow down after this one, but hear me out...

In 2019, Berlin's LIFEWENTPEAR released their debut album ' About About'. Things were looking good and there were provisional conversations about Brassneck helping out with the next record. Then a pandemic happened and things ground to a halt. New music was released digitally with two 5 track EPs appearing in the following years, but no new records until now.

Brassneck Records [UK], Raccoone Records [Germany] & Waterslide Records [Japan] are proud to present the 2 previous EPs on one handy 12" record. 10 tracks of gruff, mid-tempo punk with nods to Leatherface, Jawbreaker, Hot Water Music that follow on perfectly from that amazing debut all those years ago.

This is a limited pressing on clear vinyl with black smoke and you can snag it via the link down there in the comments ↓↓↓

Brassneck is delighted to welcome the UK's scariest, beariest punk band to the family with their debut release - a 4 track 7" titled 'Worse For Everyone'. ScareBears are a brand new, aggressive post-punk three piece from Bristol who deliver a serious message without taking themselves too seriously.

But that's not to suggest this isn't a seriously good record. Quite the contrary, Scare Bears deliver the goods. Including members and ex members of The Menstrual Cramps, Sarsour, Elk & Mondo Wave, there's no shortage of experience here and the themes of misogyny, performative allyship, fascism, etc are delivered with the power you'd expect of that musical heritage.

The record is available as either a green vinyl 7" or a super limited yellow vinyl version limited to just 25 copies including an ink-stamped and numbered inner sleeve).

Also, if you live in or near Bristol like I do, there’s a record release gig at The Golden Lion tonight (Sat 23rd) that you should really come along to. You can buy a copy of the record directly from the band and have a great night of punk into the deal.

For those who can’t make it, there’s a link in the comments where you can buy the record online.

Brassneck Records is 16 years old today!

To celebrate, 2 new albums are available now. No pre-order, no messing around, just order them online and I'll get 'em in the post in the next couple of days.

Here are the details:

THE GREAT ST. LOUIS - 'Stay Right There' LP

It's been a while, but The Great St Louis are back!! Their first new recordings since 2010's amazing "In Your Own Time" album, and how apt that title was, as "Stay Right There" is the bands third album - a mere 16 years since the last one!

The band regrouped a couple of years back and have been working on these ten brilliant new tracks, even getting Simon Wells (SOUTHPORT, S***F) and Adam Lee (CHINA DRUM) to add some extra vocals on a couple of songs!

So let's all welcome THE GREAT ST. LOUIS back - we have certainly missed them!

Available from BRASSNECK and Boss Tuneage on varying shades of orangey brown vinyl.

THE MUDERBURGERS - 'The 12 Habits of Highly Defective People' LP - ten year anniversary pressing

In 2016 The Murderburgers released what I personally consider to be their best album "The 12 Habits Of Highly Defective People". Brassneck wasn't involved in releasing that record, but when Fraser proposed a 10 year anniversary pressing, myself and Asian Man Records jumped at the opportunity.

So for those who missed it first time round or for those who just want a copy on REALLY BRIGHT PINK vinyl, today is your lucky day. Available now from BRASSNECK RECORDS (UK) & ASIAN MAN RECORDS (US) and shipping immediately.

Help celebrate this momentous anniversary by picking up a copy of each via the link in the comments...

On Friday, Brassneck will be releasing 2 new albums.

There is no pre-order, both will be released and shipping immediately. One has been announced previously and one has not. Feel free to guess, but I won't be confirming anything cos you have to come back on Friday to find out the details.

See you then!

Ridiculously great US power pop band LOCAL DRAGS have a new album out via the mighty Stardumb Records in the Netherlands and yours truly is handling UK pre-orders. Turquoise or black vinyl options are available in the store right now and, if you need a CD version, just drop me a message and I can arrange that too.

If you're familiar with the band's prior output you know roughly what to expect, but this is possibly their best yet and, while the subject matter remains familiarly heavy (depression, aging, isolation) the instrumentation balances the scales and really leans into the pop aspect of the power pop.

This is one of the best albums of 2026 right here! Link in the comments along with a link to the first single from the album...

It's bandcamp Friday. Do what you want with that information, but I'd recommend checking out this compilation of covers from Four Letter Word. Covers of songs originally by Dag Nasty, Leatherface, Billy Bragg, D.I, Hüsker Dü and more.
