Andrew’s Story / Stori Andrew
https://youtu.be/TMryCA1klAc
Andrew shares his story about his own mental health breakdown as he struggled to come to terms with the challenges in his life. Talking to the doctor and getting the support he needed saved his life.
“I had a relationship breakdown in 2003. I then lived on my own for three years, and that’s when I think everything caught up with me. Death of my brother, my parents were getting older and getting ill. My ex-girlfriend had gone with my youngest baby who was only about a month old when she left. I seriously think it started the wrong way then, but I kept going, I carried on farming, things were getting more difficult.”
“All of a sudden, I just didn’t want to live. I firmly believe looking back that we’re all on a knife edge. You either fall off that knife and you go and do this stupid thing and end your life or something drastic or you fall off the other way, you seek some help and you preserver and get where I am today. The most important thing is talking to somebody and letting somebody help you. Let them talk to you, let them try and help you and support you. It’s all about support and talking and help.”
