Breaking: Police have released more information about the threats that forced two Cardiff schools to close for a second day.

The threats, sent online on Sunday evening, made reference to “explosive devices, fi****ms and knife attacks” and were directed at three schools in the city.

Llanishen High School and Eastern High School remain closed, with armed police seen at the scene. Police said the “anonymous online threats”, first made via their online chat function, were later extended to St Illtyd’s High School.

The sender of the threats remains unidentified, as further details continue to emerge.

A woman who sold fake Taylor Swift concert tickets to teenage girls and friends in her own community has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Amy Rees, 38, from Nantymoel in Bridgend appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court where she admitted defrauding 12 people out of more than £3000.

Prosecutors said Rees offered tickets through social media and local community WhatsApp groups.

The court heard how many of the victims knew her personally and several parents bought the ‘tickets’ as gifts for their teenage children.

In victim statements read to the court, one mother said the tickets have been a Christmas present for her daughter, who was left “devastated” when they failed to materialise.

Another victim said she had “trusted Rees as a friend”, whilst one woman had known her for 36 years after growing up on the same street.

Rees was sentenced to 35 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. She was also ordered to complete rehabilitation and pay £1,076 in compensation to victims.

Watch as a woman who scammed her friends and work colleagues with the offer of Taylor Swift tickets leaves court.

Cardiff Magistrates’ Court heard how Amy Rees (seen in the hooded coat) from Bridgend advertised tickets to the sell-out Eras tour adding up to around £3,000 on social media. Many of her victims were young teenage girls.

Rees claimed she had been scammed by Ticketmaster and produced screenshots of emails which turned out to be fake.

After pleading guilty, Rees was handed a 35-week sentence suspended for 12 months. She has also been ordered to pay £1,076 in compensation to victims that will be deducted from her Universal Credit benefits.

PARENTS CALL FOR WELSH MEDIUM HIGH SCHOOL IN SOUTH CARDIFF

Parents are calling for a Welsh-medium secondary school in south Cardiff, saying the current options are simply too far away.

Cardiff Council says it is exploring options to expand Welsh-medium education and that they have measures in place to ensure every child who wants a place can access one.

The council is holding public meetings and collecting feedback from residents and families until 26 March.

“Will the cameras work, probably not!”.

Businesses in Cardiff say new cameras to combat illegal fly-tipping might not be enough to stop the crimes from affecting them.
The latest statistics found that there were more than 42,000 cases of fly-tipping in Wales between April 2023 and March 2024, with 71% involving household waste.

One shop owner told CJS News he clears the rubbish in front of his hardware shop every morning just to allow customers to reach the front door.
Natural Resources Wales are working with the Welsh Government to implement 150 cameras across the country in fly-tipping hot spots.
