Ethel & Ernest is currently available to watch on iPlayer! We’re proud to have worked with Lupus Films on such a high-profile project here at Cloth Cat. Our talented team did an amazing job bringing Raymond’s iconic look to life.

Ethel & Ernest is a beautiful and touching animated feature film based on Raymond Briggs’ classic graphic novel. Starring Oscar-winning actor Jim Broadbent and Oscar-nominated Brenda Blethyn in the title roles, and featuring a specially written track by Paul McCartney, Ethel & Ernest is marked as an important, ambitious and unique project for animation.

Cloth Cat Academy is delighted to announce that we are currently looking for talented, enthusiastic and dedicated new animators to step into the heart of our independent studio here in Cardiff.

Six successful candidates will gain invaluable experience being mentored as Moho animators on a short film project that will be broadcast this Christmas on S4C. The project is supported by Creative Wales and S4C as part of their commitment to develop training and skills in Wales.

We’re thrilled to share that our recent project, ‘Help Save Our Upland Water Voles’ has been highlighted by the Welsh online news service, !

We’re delighted that they have taken an interest in our exciting short film. It is our second collaboration with , which tells a wonderfully evocative story, highlighting the protection of endangered water voles in Wales.

We attended the Arts & Business Cymru Awards at ICC Wales last week with Lauren Orme, director of Cardiff Animation Festival. We’re very grateful to have been nominated and would like to offer a big congratulations to this year’s winners! It was wonderful to meet and celebrate some of the many innovative creators that are reshaping the landscape of arts and culture in Wales.

We had a fantastic time at Annecy Animation Festival 2025!

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s festival so unforgettable. Lots of positive conversations with friends and partners and we’d like to give a special mention to and for all their support!

From spectacular screenings to late-night ice creams by the lake, the festival delivered on its promise of incredible talent, new friendships, and non-stop inspiration. Annecy continues to set the global standard for the future of the animation industry!

We had such a brilliant time at Cardiff Animation Weekender! We’d like to say a huge thank you to for curating such an energising, diverse and thought-provoking programme, right here in our home city!

We thoroughly enjoyed the overarching theme of nostalgia. It was great to reminisce with friends old and new, whilst engaging with the exciting future opportunities presented by our evolving industry. Our shared enthusiasm for animation has truly been invigorated!
