Last chance to visit Logos Hope in Cardiff before it sails for Belfast

Cardiff residents are being reminded that time is running out to visit Logos Hope before the famous floating bookfair leaves the city and continues its UK tour.

The ship is currently docked at Britannia Quay in Cardiff Bay, where it has been welcoming visitors throughout September as part of its 2026 Waves of Hope tour.

On board, visitors can browse thousands of books, explore the ship, meet members of its international crew and learn more about the vessel’s work around the world.

The Cardiff stop is now entering its final days, with the public bookfair due to remain open until Sunday, September 27. Logos Hope is then expected to leave Cardiff on September 29 before heading to Belfast for the next stage of its tour.

General admission is £1 per person, making it an affordable day out for families, book lovers and anyone curious to see inside one of the world’s best-known floating bookshops.

For those who have spotted the ship in Cardiff Bay but have not yet stepped aboard, this is the final opportunity to visit before it sets sail again.

Logos Hope is docked at Britannia Quay, Roath Basin, Cardiff Bay, CF10 4PL.

🐟🍟 Some of Cardiff’s standout chippies are in the limelight today.

The Cardiff Spotlight Awards results are in, recognising three of the city’s top independent fish and chip shops following a Cardiff-wide public vote.

🏆🐟 THE CARDIFF BEST IN CITY CHIPPY AWARD RESULTS ARE IN! 🍟🏆

Following a citywide public vote across Cardiff, with votes gathered through polls shared across Cardiff Community Groups and direct submissions, the final results are:

🥇 GOLD - Maelfa Fish Bar
🥈 SILVER - Top Deck Fish & Chips
🥉 BRONZE - Penylan Fish Bar

The race for Gold was incredibly close, with Top Deck Fish & Chips finishing only narrowly behind Maelfa Fish Bar after a huge show of support from Cardiff residents. However, only one can take gold.

Every finalist had already met a demanding benchmark of 4.5⭐ or higher on Google with at least 250 established reviews, demonstrating strong standards in quality, consistency, service and reputation.

From there, Cardiff decided, with votes from people across the city, based on real experiences with Cardiff chippies.

These awards recognise the standout independent fish and chip shops in Cardiff, and reaching the shortlist alone was no easy feat.

Our huge congratulations to Maelfa Fish Bar and the winners above, we’re already looking forward to seeing which businesses rise to the challenge in next year’s Cardiff Spotlight Best Chippy Awards.

Zumba with Mon Cardiff is inviting people to get moving for a good cause at a special charity event in Cardiff Bay.

The fundraiser will take place at the Norwegian Church on Sunday, October 4, from 2pm to 4pm, with proceeds supporting Cancer Research UK.

The afternoon promises plenty of music, dancing and high-energy Zumba, giving people the chance to have fun, get active and raise money for an important cause.

The event is also being supported by Big Mamma's Sandwich Club, with organisers encouraging the local community to come along and take part.

🍔🔥 CARDIFF STAR VISITS RIO’S, COWBRIDGE ROAD, CANTON 🔥🍗

Today’s Cardiff Spotlight took us to Rio’s on Cowbridge Road in Canton, who are currently celebrating 1 year of trading here on the Cowbridge Rd strip — and after today’s visit, it’s easy to see why they’ve built up a following!

We tucked into a Grande Burger, Peri Peri Wings and a Strawberry Smoothie, and the food absolutely delivered. The burger was packed with flavour, properly satisfying and full of that indulgent takeaway goodness you want when you’re treating yourself. The peri peri wings had a fantastic kick, with loads of seasoning and flavour running through every bite, while the strawberry smoothie was thick, refreshing and the perfect way to cool things down. 🍓🥤

What made it even better was the fact that the food was on offer, making an already excellent meal feel like seriously good value.

The premises itself was clean, tidy and really well presented inside, with a welcoming feel and plenty of menu choices to work your way through. There’s definitely enough variety here to justify another visit — and after how flavoursome everything was today, we’d happily head back to try more.

Cardiff’s Craig Olle returns to Vivo Latino: A South American Restaurant & Cocktail Bar in Canton to tick another dish off the menu, and it was a winner.

A perfectly cooked steak served with potatas, confit bell peppers, fresh salad, and a selection of delicious sauces. Another great experience at one of Canton’s popular dining hotspots.
