Sunderland Point, near Lancaster in Lancashire, was a significant port from the late 17th to the late 18th century, serving as a base for boat building, international trade, and the slave trade, before declining with the development of Glasson Dock and Lancaster's St. George's Quay. After its fall as a port, it briefly became a holiday resort known as "Little Brighton" before its isolation and the rise of nearby Morecambe led to fishing and farming becoming the main occupations, resulting in the sleepy village it is today.
