Revisiting places has hidden charm.
We realised we have been in Morocco a month, but haven't been anywhere new yet. This is partly due to dodging the weather, also following the coast has definite favourites!
Altho we are staying in the same spots however, we are managing to find new places and experiences from there.
It is comforting to have some familiar elements, living on the road, you often wake up wondering where you are, we seem to be finding balance with new and known.
Chance meetings, heading out in a different direction, sharing ideas and moments, and making new friends. It is all part of the journey.

Wind stops play!
Or at least changed our plans.
We had all wanted to spend another day at Plage Blanc, but the wind picked up during the night, dust and sand made it intolerable.
We decided to convoy to Guelmim and decide what yo do from there. It was an interesting drive, clouds of orange, haze and dust storms blowing near and far. But also patches of green, life from the recent rain. It doesn't take much to regenerate.
We decided at Guelmim that it just wasn't worth the long drive south for more dust and wind. Sad not to be going somewhere new, but we knew a nice sheltered oasis nearby, so decided to make the best of it and head there. Managed to all fit in the campsite and found a bonus cute puppy outside.

We were ready to roll after the markets and surfing in Sidi Ifni. Love this place, a good, chilled atmosphere.

We treated the vans to a wash, knowing they will be filthy again in days, but it was much needed. With all the recent rain we didn't feel guilty for the water use.

Driving felt different, it was much more barren, vast swathes of dirt with a few rocks and scrub. Flat and windswept, not many settlements of people eeking a living out of the land.

Still familiar territory tho as we had been this way last year. Plage Blanc is popular with overlanders, but definitely past most motorhomers reach.

The parking has changed a lot, we couldn't get to the lower level apart from on foot. Once settled we went for a walk down there to the beach. Osprey were on posts, the third place I have seen them in Morocco.

We walked along the beach and then into the lagoon. The fishing shacks were still there, maybe a few more, and lots of crickets and birds. It was lovely to see life grabbing the opportunity from the rains.

We were amused walking along by some very muddy, slidey tracks and a deep ford to cross. A nice walk, much appreciated after a week if city life. The peace and tranquility of this spot is very special indeed.

Market day in Morocco is a full-sensory adventure. Jackie and I went back for some more on Sunday. The air rang with bargaining voices and the buzz of buying fresh food, while piles of spices glow like little sunsets.

Fresh mint, ripe oranges, olives, and handwoven baskets spill across every stall. We wandered slowly, discovering something new at every turn. Itโ€™s chaotic, colourful, and wonderfully human.

These markets arenโ€™t just about buying and selling โ€” theyโ€™re about connection, stories, and rhythm of everyday life. One morning here feels like a small celebration.

The afternoon was more chilled, a walk on the beach, watching seabirds and hunting for glinting pieces of sea glass were quiet meditation.

Rounding the day of, we shared dinner with friends. Fresh vegetables and herbs thoroughly enjoyed.

Sidi Ifni market is one of the biggest in Morocco. Saturday is set up day so we headed up for a look and to get dinner.
I video called my mum to share it with her. She had even invited a friend round to watch. It is fun to share every day aspects of our trip, specially something as vibrant and colourful as this. Her friend thought Morocco was dangerous so it was nice to show her just how friendly and happy everyone is.
We got the bits we needed, had some fun with local lads who wanted to practice their English and headed off.
I love the markets, so vibrant and full of life and hustle. Somewhere to connect with people, learn a little and share a moment. But heck the are full on sensory overload too. All part of the fun.

Just another day in Sidi Ifni.

Time is slowing and we are settling in nicely.

Luna had fun on the beach, did her best to avoid any dog grooming and napped while we went body boarding.

Spending time with friends and pottering around is just the biggest luxury, we are really appreciating the smaller things.

The 'highlight' of the day was the football. Not something I ever thought I would say! We wandered into town, firstly for dinner, then to catch some of the atmosphere of watching Morocco play in the Africa Cup. The cafes were packed with men sitting in rows, glued to the big screens. You could tell what was going on by the crowd noises. All very good natured and enjoyable to watch the watching. Next stop semi finals.

Beachcombing with friends is one of my favourite kinds of treasure hunting.

We wander the shoreline, laughing, telling stories, pockets slowly filling with shells (or not, as they run away), sea glass, and little surprises the tide leaves behind. Connections and new friends with interesting skills and stories are a brilliant bonus.

Thereโ€™s something grounding about walking barefoot, slowing down, and noticing the tiny details โ€” the colours, textures, and shapes shaped by the ocean.

Hermit Crab Racing won't be making the Olympics and I certainly won't start eating seafood, but I will keep wandering the beaches and feeling so lucky to be here sharing it with friends.

Reconnecting has unexpectedly been on my mind lately โ€” returning to the people and places that feel so comfortable. The conversations that pick up as if no time has passed. The familiar streets, views, and corners that hold memories like bookmarks. Slowing down, listening more, sharing stories, and simply being present has reminded me what truly matters.

Life moves fast, but connection roots us. Hereโ€™s to checking in, showing up, and making space for the relationships and places that shaped us โ€” and still shape who weโ€™re becoming. If this resonates, maybe itโ€™s your sign to reach out today.

Christmas and New Year in Morocco ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐ŸŽ„

This episode is based near Sidi Kaouki, where we spend the festive season living vanlife on the Atlantic coast. Itโ€™s not all parties though โ€” winter storms roll in, the winds pick up, and travel throws a few unexpected challenges our way.

We head to Essaouira to explore a local flea market full of textiles, fruit and spices, and discover a hidden arts quarter in a less-visited part of the city that most tourists never see.

Back at the campsite we meet some brilliant people, share crafts, light campfires and celebrate Christmas and New Year together with games (including lemon jousting ๐Ÿ‹), singing and plenty of laughs.

Christmas Day takes an unexpected turn with a visit to the vets after a dog bite, before we end the episode riding our gravel bikes to sea caves near Sidi Kaouki, finishing with mint tea overlooking the Atlantic.

A very different way to spend Christmas โ€” community, culture, storms and slow travel in Morocco.
