Our Story

From our foundation in 1967 when we were known as ‘The Horse Show’ we have grown from strength to strength, largely due to YOU our visitors, year on year we expand with more attractions more entries and more visitors, thank you so so much for being part of our show. In 2019 we celebrated our 52th show and it will certainlly go down in the history, we had the biggest show to date and glorious sunshine all day. All plans are well under way for another amazing line up in 2020 more attractions, trade & stalls, Crafts, Fabulous gourmet food and of course our extensive range of livestock classes. In 2019 we also welcomed back the Northern Ireland Shows Association Danske Bank Sheep Final and with our sheep section normally having around 800 entries the final was a grand occasion. We love hosting the Grasslads, exquisite miniature working engineering masterpieces are always a huge attraction for our visitors. Northern Ireland Stick Carvers still amaze us with the selection handmade sticks & crooks. Ballyvalley Archery invited our visitors to experience archery some for the first time. Seaforde vintage club held a threshing demonstration & vintage tractor display.

Due to a world pandemic -Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)which caused acute respiratory disease, the world ground to a halt a time no one is likely ever to forget for their lifetime. Most shows in the UK were cancelled due to public safety this year as was our own, people could not leave their homes for weeks to try and stop the virus spreading.

Our schedules will be available online or by post from early May 2021 (pre Balmoral Show) Our fine food marquee, craft and trade applications are available to download from our website www.castlewellanshow.com from November 2020 - we look forward to welcoming you all on Saturday 17th July 2021, in the Forest Park, Castlewellan.
