TOPIC: EXPLOITS OF FAITH: FAITH BRINGS BOLDNESS
TEXT: DANIEL 3:17-18 (NIV)
This week we will be looking at the Exploits of Faith. This centers on the remarkable actions and accomplishments that stem from unwavering belief in God's promises. The first Exploit of Faith on our list is that Faith Brings Boldness. Boldness is the willingness to take risks and act innovatively. It means courage. Faith does this by instilling confidence in believers to step out courageously, trusting in God's power. The Exploits of Faith was vividly portrayed in the story of the three Hebrew boys; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the book of Daniel. These young men displayed unwavering trust in God's power and refused to bow to the golden image erected by King Nebuchadnezzar, despite the threat of being thrown into a fiery furnace. Their Boldness stemmed from their deep conviction that God was able to deliver them. When confronted by the King and given a final chance to comply, they fearlessly declared, "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty's hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up" (Daniel 3:17-18, NIV).
Their resolute Faith in God's deliverance, coupled with their refusal to compromise their beliefs, resulted in a miraculous intervention. As the three Hebrew boys were thrown into the furnace, they were not harmed. Instead, they were joined by a fourth figure—referred to as "one like a son of the gods" (Daniel 3:25, NIV). Not only were they protected from harm, the fire had no power over them. Their bold stand for their Faith not only led to their deliverance but also caused King Nebuchadnezzar to acknowledge the greatness of their God. In our own lives, it is important for us to note that the Faith we have in God and His Word births Boldness. When faced with trials and challenges, may we stand courageous in God's ability to deliver us. Let us harness the Boldness that stems from our unwavering Faith in God's promises, knowing that He is able to accomplish exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, (Ephesians 3:20, NIV).
MEMORY VERSE:
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him, (Hebrews 11:6, NIV).
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude for your loving kindness and goodness. We receive the Boldness that comes with Faith. Help us to trust in your promises and to stand firm in our convictions, even when faced with challenges or oppositions, in Jesus' name, Amen.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
