Anyone up for volunteering?
Volunteering in the spotlight at Stone Community Hub event
Charities and community groups in and around Stone who are looking for new volunteers have been urged to attend a special event in the town.
Stone Community Hub is hosting the event on Friday 1st June, the first day of this year’s national Volunteers’ Week.
Not-for-profit groups can showcase their organisation and promote volunteer vacancies. Members of the public who are interested in giving something back to their community will be able to find out more about the volunteering opportunities that are available in Stone and surrounding villages.
Stone Community Hub manager Karen Wardell said: “Volunteers’ Week is all about celebrating the incredible contribution that volunteers make to their communities.
“We have lots of organisations in and around Stone who rely on volunteers to deliver their vital community services, and I’m sure there are lots of people in the town who would like to get involved as a volunteer. Our event is designed to bring them together, as well as providing a fantastic networking opportunity for groups in the town.”
The volunteering event will be held in the Frank Jordan Centre in Lichfield Street, Stone, on Friday 1st June from 5pm to 7pm.
Charities and other not-for-profit groups in and around Stone should email [email protected] or call 01785 812417 to book their place as soon as possible.
Any groups who can’t be there on the day but want to be involved can create a poster about their organisation and what volunteers they need. These will all be displayed at the event.
